It sounds like a faulty check valve, it is located inline with the cruise control vacuum line or the vacuum brake booster vacuum supply line.

How can I fix cruise control

fix what ,not hold. will not engage or drops out or is inaccurate or?
or advance lever fails,(up/down)
no car told ,maker, model or year.?
cruise control evolved radiallly in 20 years.
the #1 failure is brake lamps dead, fuse blown. or brake switch bad.
the old cars have funky old dangerous cable drive throttle
that can rust and cause throttle to stick open a real man killler years
then on newer cars the Throttle has zero cables. called TBW ,throttle by wire (electric wires only) but if ever sticks speeds are limited to 20mph, or none at all.<< depend on level of bad, today.
the modern car disables cruise for vastly more reasons.
(1billion $ lawsuits happened)_
  1. brake switch fails.
  2. engine can not regulate idle for vast reasons
  3. CEL check engine lamp glows.
  4. DTC errors from engine or transmission
  5. Gear shifter PRNDL read wrong or contradictory.
  6. not in DRIVE.
  7. speed sensor errors even 3 or 4 of them now.
  8. bad cruise switch or bad clock spring pass through.
  9. and more, I will stop here. and say RTM read the service manual on the car. under CRUISE.
  10. good luck !!!!

How do i set the cruise control on my 1994 mercedes c220 elegance automatic

Cruise Control
Any given speed above approximately 22 mph (35 km/h) can be maintained with the cruise control by operating the lever.
-see photo

  1. Accelerate and set: Lift lever briefly to set speed. Hold lever up to accelerate.
  2. Decelerate and set:
Depress lever briefly to set speed. Hold lever down to decelerate.
Normally the vehicle is accelerated to the desired speed with the accelerator. Speed is set by briefly pushing
the lever to position 1 or 2. The accelerator can be released. The speed can be increased (e.g. for passing)
by using the accelerator. As soon as the accelerator is released, the previously set speed will be resumed automatically. If a set speed is to be increased or decreased slightly, e.g. to adapt to the traffic flow, hold lever in position 1 or 2 until the desired speed is reached, or briefly tip the control lever in the appropriate direction for increases or decreases in 0.6 mph (1 km/h) increments. When the lever is released, the newly set speed remains.
  3. Canceling
To cancel the cruise control, briefly push lever to position 3.
When you step on the brake or the vehicle speed drops below approx. 22 rnph (35 km/h), for example when driving upgrade, the cruise control will be canceled.
4. Resume
If the lever is briefly pushed to position 4 when driving at a speed exceeding approx. 22 mph (35 km/h), the vehicle resumes the speed which was set prior to the cancellation of the cruise control. The last memorized speed is canceled when the key in the steering lock is turned to position 1 or 0.
Note:
If the engine does not brake the vehicle sufficiently while driving on a downgrade, the speed you set on the cruise control may be exceeded and you may have to step on the brake pedal to slow down.
As soon as the grade eases, the cruise controlled speed will again be maintained as long as the brakes were not previously applied, or the lever may be used to resume the previously set speed if the brakes were applied.

CRUISE CONTROL WON'T WORK ON 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER

check cruise control fuse and check the brake lights see if brake light working because the brake light switch will deactivate cruise control when brakes is applied.if brake lights dont work either fuse blowed or switch bad.if all is good have vechicle code scan because cruise control control by PCM and vechicle speed sensor and thottle actuator control motor.

I have a 1993 chevy lumina and the cruise control is acting up. It will set like its supposed to but it wont keep up speed while going up hills like it used to. It slows down 15-20 mph usually. It also...

You have a gas pedal your suppose to use that to drive.cruise control is designed to be used at highway speeds for longtrips. Do not use in bad weather like rain or snow. Your using it for steep hills and may have other issues going on causing the power loss. May need a tuneup and check hoses under the hood for damage

How to use cruise control

Here are the steps in using cruise control:

  1. Get on a road you will be traveling at the same speed for a long period of time, such as a freeway.
  2. Reach your desired speed. Choose a speed that allows you to move with the flow of traffic and not go over or under the designated speed limit for that road.
  3. Locate the ON and SET buttons on your steering wheel. Press ON first and SET after. Your cruise control is now activated. Most vehicles must be traveling at least 30 miles per hour to set the cruise control.
  4. Press and hold the SET button if you wish to use cruise control at a higher speed. Hold until your desired speed is reached.
  5. Decrease speed by pressing the COAST button.
  6. Push the brake pedal to disengage the cruise control function. If you wish to return to the previous set speed, use the RES (resume) button. You must be traveling at least 30 miles per hour for this function to resume.
  7. Erase any previous speed by pressing the OFF button.

Cruise control not working on my Chevy Lumina 1998

Check the switch above the brake pedal. This is the switch the turns off the cruise when you hit the brakes. Make sure it is adjusted properly to allow the cruise to come on.
