take it in and have them get the code/codes. probably a cheap sensor. could be cam shaft sensor or crank sensor i'm guessing

I can't see the car or know the complete history, but with that many miles it would need to be way below book value.
The car overall was designed to last about 150k in my opinion.
If the check engine light is not on, there may be something broken in the transmission to keep it from shifting into overdrive.
If the check engine light is on the code could point you in the direction of a solenoid or other electrical part.
I would not buy it unless you are prepared to spend the money to replace the trans.

count the trany bolt holes youhave on both trannys, and the lines should tell you, But i really don't think you can because the shifting cable would be on wrong side, Hard to tell good luck.

some of the trannys has straps in them that sometimes needs to be tightened and that could be the cause of it
