SOURCE: 3rd brake light

This is how i did it on my 2006 Sonata

1.) unplug the connector in the trunk (its a small white plug running up to the third light, there should be a small clip you squeeze).

2.) remove the 2 gold-colored screws from inside the trunk. They can be seen from the trunk. 1 is thru the larger square opening where the wire connects to the 3rd brake light. The 2nd is on the right side thru a small (screwdriver width) hole covered by a piece of foam tape stuff I had to punch me screwdriver through the foam to get to it.

3.) after removing the 2 screws, go inside the cabin and the brake light housing pops up.

4.) disconnect the bulb from the housing while inside the cabin (I had to do this with me two forefingers since the housing only pops up and inch or two).

5.) in the trunk remove the wire and bulb. (it's about 5 inches long. the wire from the connector to the bulb socket)

6.) reverse steps to install.

It is a pain and reqiuires a bit of time only because there isn't a lot of room to move around, but it beats taking it to the dealershio!

SOURCE: 2005 Lincoln Ls 3rd Brake Light Wiring

The best way to wire a third brake light is to run the wire directly from the brake light switch on the side of the steering colum to the light. You will need a test light to find out what wire lights up when you push the brake pedal. Then you can splice into it when you run your wire to the rear light.

SOURCE: Brake lights wnt wrk when pushing dwn brake, but park lights do

As cadman mention to check the fuse, and if there ok check your brake light switch along the brake peddle arm. Before you doany of that, turn your hazard light on to make sure that all your light's are not burnt out. Good luck

SOURCE: 2009 Hyundai Sonata-clicking noise at brake pedal, brakes applied

This is not a rich mans car so its normal. Your hearing the solinod that lets you take the car out of park after the brake is depressed so the car can't be put in gear unless the brake is on. If the noise bothers you the soliniod can be found and wrapped in insulation like a rich mans car them you can ride on feeling like a rich man too. ( the Beatles sang that a long time ago) and its still true today.

Why on earth would you put grease on the brakes? Your batteries are failing. You should also check the motor brushes for wear and damage.

check the abs system for relay and electrical problems
the clicking can be from a cycling relay and the head lights flickering from the power draw for the abs away from the head lights.

Why can't I take out of park?

Brake switch is bad. Check to see if you have brake lights. Brake switch is under the dash and it touches the brake arm.

Im trying to connect a 3rd brake light to a 99 camaro is the green wire postive

Hi William, To begin, the usual color coding on American vehicles is black is ground. To test this, take a long length of cable and a test light. Connect one side of the test light to battery positive and and the other cable connect to the black wires one at a time. If the light comes on normally you have proved the ground connection, then do the same with the other. Next connect the test light to the green cable and the other cable to the black. Press the brake pedal and observe if the light illuminates. If all is well, connect the black cable from the third brake light to the black cable of your car and the red cable from the after market brake light to one green cable from your car an insulate the other. Then go ahead and mount the third brake light. Regards John

Shifter will not unlock out park

I popped the ring off around the shifter. I have a 2008 Sebring. Inside the shifter are two pink colored pieces of plastic. I used a screwdriver to the one on the left and pushed it back towards the rear of the car. I pushed as far back as I could go and the shifter went out of Park as easy as could be. I hope this helps!
