yes the crankshaft position sensor can cause all these problems at once. they are fairly simple to change and not a really expensive part if you want to check it though you can unplug it and hook a multimeter to it and check ohms as someone cranks the engine. should see a square wave as in 0 ohs to infinity ohms and repeat.

Yes, definitely. If you have some mechanical knowledge you should be able to change it yourself. If not, your Kia people should be able to do it at a very reasonable price.( less than £100)

The CPS is located under the timming cover 4 small bolts remove the cover and the sensor is viewable 2 bolts have to be loosend and the wire leads up to a dual connector on the left side of the engine

At the front of the crankshaft. if its near time for the timing belt, you want to replace it along with any pullies, tensioner and water pump
