Both can be wrong or one can be right .If the idle rpm goes up and down you are getting false air or a vacuum leak,These can come from of slight open EGR, Vacuum leaks, or the IAC (idle air control)the throttle position sensor does not cause rough idle.
Maybe a short to the TPS or something shorting it out. There's also the IAC that really controls the idle but usually it will cause the RPM's to go up and down a little erratic if bad. The MAF sensor can cause major problems as well but since you already swapped the TPS and it helped and then stopped I would focus on that sensor and especially it's wiring to and from the ECM. Be careful with the sensor signal wire to the ECM can blow it if more than 5v passes or spikes.
Trees problems can do that maybe a vacuum leak or a trottle position sensor problem have the car diagnoticated witch a scan toll or a code reader if you have a code on it that will be indicated on the tollre pair the problem and get the code ereased.IFyour rpm does that when the engine is at the idle without car moving that is your idle air control valve problem (probaly dirty) removed it and clean the plunger witch a solvant but dont push on the plunger this one is very sensitive and is preset at the factoryand reinstall it but before unplunging any electrical obd sensor on your engine you have to unplug your negative battery post from it if you dont do that you will put a code in your engine computer
it sounds like a idle control valve if you keep your foot on the gas alittle does it stay runningif so does it sound normal if so it probably your idle control valve and to should be on the back of your trottle body also try cleanind the inside of your trottle body with a lint free rag and some trottle body cleaner make sure you open the butterfly and get all that carben out of there sometimes the carben build up will also cause a big drop in rpm.
