Hyundai Starex 1999 model, The hold lamp blinks but the car runs normal but takes time for the transmission to upshift. Also, the speedometer works on and off. What could be wrong?

The car runs normal for the first 10 to 20 minutes then the hold lamp start to blink. This happens everytime I start the car from engine off. Also the speedometer works only after driving 3 or more hours then it dies everytime I use the horn, turnlights or headlights.

regarding hold lamp blinks.. check on the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) placed on your injection pump..

speedometer on and off.. this could be wiring related issues.. must be shorted..

SPEEDO METER OF MY HYUNDAI STAREX VAN DOES'NT WORK AFTER REPLACING THE SPEEDOMETER SENSOR DEVICE

I don't know what is causing this problem, but I know phil140701's answer is completely wrong on two counts. First, 740 Volvos starting at least in 1986 have electronic speedometers and no cable. There is an electronic sensor on the differential which sends a signal to the speedometer cluster. Second, if it were strictly mechanical with a cable then the voltage regulator could have no effect on it at all.

If tranny fluid is clear and at normal level, then the issue is with the transmission - it is getting ready to go sayonara.

Better get that fix before you get stranded.

Speedometer quick working suddenly and transmission will not shift out of first while in drive or manualy

speed sensor may be faulty and may prevent the transmission from upshifting. This will also prevent the speedometer from working. Hve the spped sensor's circuit checked, and the spped sensor itself. Replace if necessary. Hopefully this helps
