Wipers worked just fine last night, went to flip on wipers this morning and the wiper motor made noise, but wipers would not move. Could this be a weak motor or would it be linkage?

give the mottor a few taps and spray wd40 in it if you can it releases things thats stuck. also make sure all movable parts are moving freeely. sounds silly but can catch on things. cables are not squashed and the like.

Wipers stopped working, not a fuse

Your wiper motor or wiper transmission may be bad. If you can hear the wiper motor running, but the wipers don't move, your wiper transmission is bad. If you can't hear the wiioper motor, and you're sure all fuses are good and all contacts are solid, your wiper motor is toast.

Windshield wipers

If the wipers move freeely by hand and it feels unhooked it is the linkage. if they feel tight like they are still hooked to the motor then the gearbox or circuit board went bad. for either one you will have to remove the motor.Be careful of the ground strap if there is one. Three bolts hold it on under the hood. with the motor removed you can remove the spindles and if there are any plastic grommets that are worn replacements are available at the auto parts. be sure to use white lithium grease as they are plastic. If a wiper motor is suspect i would replace it as windshield wipers are very important and nothing to skimp on.

Windshield wipers stopped working with heavy snow cover

The windshield wiper circuit has an circuit breaker in it, under heavy load this breaker trips to protect the wiper motor, when the motor cools, the breaker resets automatically restoring proper wiper action.

Wipers were working fine on the way to the store. When I got back in the car and started it up, there was a weird grinding noise... went to turn wipers on, and they wouldn't work anymore. Possible issue?

sounds like a failure in the wiper linkage or wiper motor. find a replacement on ebay. get the motor and the wiper linkage as a unit, as the labor is going to cost more than the part.

I have a 1998 ford explorer xlt turned wipers on last night they went half way up and now wont turn on.what can the problem be?

check to ensure the fuses are good first. also try and move the wipers on the outside with your hand while turning them on inside. if they move down and stop again the motor could be bad. checking for proper power and grounds is essentially in any good diagnostic, but wiring diagrams or a good understanding of how it works are needed for proper testing and diagnostics. More then likely the wiper motor may have given out. however in some cases the linkage or wiper transmission can let go from the motor so check to see if you hear the motor running with no wiper action. i hope this will help you

Chevy S-10 1994 Wipers don't work at all...cruise works, turn signals work, but no wipers. Fuse is fine

Park you car in a quite location.

Engine off

Turn wiper to high and listen for the motor rotation noise near the firewall (near the bottom of the windshield)

If you hear the motor rotation noise and the wipers are not moving then it's the linkage and/or the motor clutch.

Get to it ASAP. A loose bolt connection can damage the linkage arm or clutch.

It's time consuming to replace these hard to reach park.
