Instead of just replacing parts ,why don't you take it an get it diagnosed at a ASE certified repair shop . You need to test ! is there DTC's - diagnostic trouble codes ? Is there a voltage at the switch ? an then check to see if there is a return voltage at the control module . These systems are complex an replacing parts doesn't work ! Go to you tube an check out some videos on basic automotive electrical system trouble shooting . An voltage drop testing videos . Then you need to find yourself a wiring diagram an check power an grounds for the module .

02 Yukon keeps blowing a fuse even when the switch is unplugged on the 4x4

There is an actuator motor located on the transfer case. It selects range; hi neutral and lo and engages the front differential. There is a second clutch actuator motor on the front differential that engages the front wheel hubs.

You will need to disconnect both motors to eliminate electronics. It could also be you have an abraided wire to either the transfer case or the front differential. If unplugging both actuators doesnt stop fuse blow, you will need to test for signal or power to ground shorts.

The New Venture Gear model NVG 246 RPO NP8 transfer case is a two speed automatic, active, transfer case. The NVG 246 EAU provides 5 modes, Auto 4WD, 4HI, 4LO, 2HI and Neutral. The Auto 4WD position allows the capability of an active transfer case, which provides the benefits of on-demand torque biasing wet clutch and easy vehicle tuning through software calibrations. The software calibrations allow more features such as flexible adapt ready position and clutch preload torque levels. The technology allows for vehicle speed dependent clutch torque levels to enhance the performance of the system. For example, the system is calibrated to provide 0-5 ft lb of clutch torque during low speed, low engine torque operation, and predetermined higher torque for 40 km/h (25 mph) and greater. This prevents crow-hop and binding at low speeds and provides higher torque biases at higher vehicle speeds, in order to enhance stability.

The NVG 246 EAU transfer case features a 4 button shift control switch located on the instrument panel. When the ignition key is in the RUN position, the transfer case shift control module monitors the transfer case shift control switch to determine if the driver desires a new mode/range position. The transfer case shift control module is equipped with the ability to store diagnostic information, which is useful to a technician in the event of module, component or wiring failures. This information can be retrieved from the transfer case shift control module by way of flash codes, which are displayed on the three transfer case shift control switch buttons. These buttons are located on the instrument panel to the right of the steering wheel Before obtaining DTCs, perform the following transfer case control module (TCCM) Self-Test.
TCCM Self-Test
Observe the transfer case shift control switch indicators while turning the ignition switch to RUN. A properly operating system will flash all indicators and then will return to the current gear. If the system is operating normally, then proceed to Displaying Codes.
If the TCCM failed the Self-Test, then test the following circuits.
• Battery Positive Voltage (40 and 1640), and Ignition 3 Voltage for battery voltage
• Ground Circuit for ground
• Diagnostic enable circuit for an open or high resistance
• Transfer case shift control switch connector
If the above circuits are normal but the TCCM still fails the Self-Test, replace the TCCM. Refer to Transfer Case Shift Control Module Replacement .

DTC Displaying
Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
Connect PIN 13 on the data link cable (DLC) to a ground. The DLC is located in the cab under the instrument panel on the driver's side.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Observe the transfer case shift control switch select buttons for flashing codes. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List .
Important: If the transfer case shift control switch buttons all blink only once and then stop, no fault codes are stored in the transfer case shift control module.
• When one DTC is stored in memory, that code will blink that number of times followed by a 3 second pause and then repeat.
• If more than one code is stored, the first code will blink, followed by a 3 second pause and then the second code will blink.
• This sequence will continue until PIN 13 on the DLC is no longer grounded.
• If the TCCM will not communicate the presence or absence of DTCs, test the above circuits in Self-Test Step 2. If the circuits are complete, then replace the TCCM. Refer to Transfer Case Shift Control Module Replacement .

The four button switch system is a bit more complex ,need a factory scanner or professional one to check DTC'S

How do you change out 4 wheel drive switch on 2004 Yukon

Sorry ,but your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop that has the diagnostic tool that check's for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's in the 4X4 control module . Light blinking is suppose tell you that you need to take it in for sevice ,not for you to play with something you have no idea how it work's . Transfer Case Shift Control Switch Indicator Flashes, then Returns to Previous Mode
The transfer case shift control module controls the transfer case lock solenoid. The transfer case lock solenoid is released by being energized. This is accomplished by grounding the lock solenoid control circuit during gear shifts, and in the AUTO 4WD mode. Locking action is applied when power or ground are taken away from the lock solenoid, the transfer case motor is prevented from moving. The system is capable of providing a 2HI, 4HI and 4LO lock-up without the need of additional vehicle power to hold the transfer case in these positions.
The transfer case motor is a bi-directional, permanent magnet, DC motor. When energized, through motor control A or motor control B, the ground is provided by the opposing motor control circuit and then grounded through the transfer case shift control module ground circuit, the motor, through a series of gears, rotates a shaft which moves the mode and range forks to shift the transfer case between the following ranges: 4HI, AUTO 4WD, 2HI, Neutral, and 4LO.
If there is a fault in the brake control circuit, motor control A and B circuits are shorted together, or a motor control driver is damaged in the transfer case shift control module, the transfer case shift control module goes into a shift block mode. The transfer case module will also go into shift block mode if there is a mechanical concern causing the shift lever detent shaft to bind, or the transfer case shift control module is not seeing a signal from the Park/Neutral position (PNP) switch. The shift block mode causes the mode indicator to flash for a period of time when another mode is selected. After that period of time has ended, the indicator reverts back to the previous mode selection.
Without factory service info. to guide you through a set diagnostic procedure you probably don't have a chance of fixing this yourself .

Is the switch lit up , light flashing ? Did you have the system checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Should have had this done before replacing parts . TCM ? your replaced the transmission control module ? Or the transfer case shift control module ? If no codes ,check B+ power and grounds for the control module . Find a wiring diagram so you know which wires are what etc.....Videos on youtube on basic automotive electrical testing , testing inputs an outputs for control modules . This system can set a number of codes !

The front axle control circuit consists of a Front Drive Axle Clutch Solenoid which is electronically controlled by the transfer case shift control module. This solenoid opens and closes a vacuum control valve allowing vacuum to apply and release a clutch pack inside the front axle housing. The transfer case shift control module determines whether or not the clutch pack has been applied or released based on a signal from the front axle switch mounted on the front axle housing assembly. The front axle is normally locked or engaged during AUTO 4WD, 4WD HI, and 4WD LO modes. The front axle is unlocked or disengaged only during 2 HI or neutral modes.

The voltage on the switch signal circuit will vary depending on which mode button is pressed by the driver.
The transfer case shift control module constantly monitors the switch signal circuit to determine the condition of the accessory switch circuit.

DTC C0327 Encoder Circuit Malfunction
The transfer case shift control module has 4 encoder circuits, and each circuit is supplied 12 volts. These 4 circuits are A, B, C, and P, and each circuit runs to a switch located inside the encoder/motor assembly. When a particular encoder circuit is active, the switch is closed, and the 12 volts are grounded by the switch inside the encoder.
The transfer case shift control module supplies 12 volts on all the circuits. The module can interpret the location of the transfer case shift position when the circuits are grounded.
This DTC detects a fault when it compares the shift sequence/strategy to a chart located in read only memory (ROM), within the electronic control unit (ECU), within the transfer case shift control module. This is accomplished by the module reading the different combinations of encoder signals being grounded while others remain high depending on what mode or range the transfer case is in.

DTC C0550 ECU Malfunction
At each power-up, the transfer case shift control module runs a self-test on the following functions:
• EEPROM Checksum
• ROM Checksum
• RAM Checksum
• RAM Malfunction

4 wheel drive doesnt engage, service 4wd light comes on code co327 changed encoder motor and sensor tried used module had it reprogramed made it so the lights dont work on the switch. HELP

That is the code for the transfer case control module. It is really expensive to replace, maybe $500 or more. Unfortunately, everytime I have had the code pop up, you will have to have the trans case drained, flushed, and the control module will have to be changed. I am truly sorry for the bad news, but I really hope all works out:(

Ford 2005 4x4 problem.

2-Speed Torque-On-Demand (TOD) Operation
The automatic 4-wheel drive (A4WD) system is a 2-speed torque-on-demand (TOD) operation that utilizes the following components:
  • Transfer case
  • 4-wheel drive (4WD) control module (integral to the powertrain control module [PCM])
  • Mode select switch (MSS)
  • Gearmotor encoder assembly (part of the transfer case shift motor)
  • Transfer case shift motor
  • Shift motor sense plate (part of the gearmotor encoder assembly)
Principles of Operation
Transfer Case Shift Motor The externally mounted transfer case shift motor, located at the rear of the transfer case, turns the shift cam assembly. As the shift cam assembly turns, it positions the reduction shift fork for desired transfer case operation. An integral position sensor in the shift motor provides shift motor position information to the 4WD control module.
Mode Select Switch (MSS) The push button MSS, mounted on the instrument panel, allows the operator to select the 4x4 Auto, 4x4 High, and 4x4 Low transfer case operating modes. The indicator light, on the instrument cluster push button, will illuminate only when the 4x4 Low position is engaged.

    • check that the program card is correctly installed.
    • check the connections to the vehicle.
    • check the ignition switch position.
  1. If the diagnostic tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the diagnostic tool operating manual.
  1. Carry out the diagnostic tool data link test. If the diagnostic tool responds with:
    • CAN circuit fault; all electronic control units no response/not equipped, refer to Section 418-00 .
    • No response/not equipped for 4WD module (PCM), Go To Pinpoint Test G .
    • System passed, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs and carry out the 4WD module (PCM) self test.
