What kind of adjustments can be made to minimize outside edge tire wear on my 2001 Toyota Highlander V6 AWD?

210K+ 2nd owner (after 5 year lease, possible undisclosed front end accident damage) I got at 70K 10 years ago. 50% gnarled city traffic. 50% open freeway, although sometimes twisty or heavy winds. Use AWD in the Snow once or twice a year. Traction control never really needs to kick in, so no other use. My driving style is somewhere between bootlegger and maniac. Alignment never seems to change, falls within range. Can I suggest anything to my tire, brake, suspension, alignment mechanic to possible push something to the OTHER END of the range to minimize the wear on the outside? I know alignment has 3 or 4 possible adjustments Suspension 1 - 3 adjustments Parts? Wear? Bent Broken? Both seem to wear similarly. No matter what brand of tire.

If you are confident the wheel alignment is correct (first option) it may have excessive positive camber (lean in or out of the front wheel). This is often adjusted at the top of the strut tower (if fitted). A good front end mechanic would fix this problem in his sleep, you would not have to prompt him.

I just noticed it may have had front end damage. If the frame is bent that cound easily be the cause.

Why does toyota put such LOW QUALITY TIRES ON THEIR LEASES? I HAD TO CHANGE MY TIRES AFTER ONLY 20,000 MILES ON MY LEASE.???

Larry, It keeps there cost down, example: You the leaser pick up your new lease vehicle with cheap tire that leaser paid let say $40.00 each for tires. You return car after a year, probably in your contract it states you are responsible for some wear items and damage, over mileage limit, etc. The lease rep. comes out measures remaining tread depth of tires and they measure out at 3/32 of an inch. Which then they calculate to be 95% worn. They do not use the price of $40.00 per tire, they use the price probably closer to $120.00 per tire in there calculation and get away with it, because this is determined to be the average cost to replace a tire of the market at the time.
To sum it up you could have to pay $456.00 towards tires wear unless you replace the tires before returning it to the lease company along with other expenses they deem as part of contract fulfillment.
This is only an example and does not mean all leases are like this it is just a plausible answer to question.

I AM EXPERIENCING PROBLEM WITH MY 2001 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER. WHENEVER I STEP ON THE AKCELRATOR IT PULSATES AND VIBRATES AT SPEED 70 KM

Firstly, make sure your tires are in good shape, no rounded edges or balding. Secondly, have your tires balanced and checked by a tire shop.

I have a 2006 Toyota Highlander I have 31150 miles on it and was just told I need to replace all 4 tires for the second time This will be my thiird set...the dealership gave me a nonsense excues and...

alot of things could be causing excessive tire wear i would imagine the dealership would of told you if there was front end problems so we can rule that out but two more important things are rotating tires every 3000 miles and checking and or making adjustment on alighnments atleast twice a year. the angle that would cause the worst tire wear and is almost always the angle that is out is toe. I would start with a alighnment and making sure your tires are rotated

Front end alinement plus toe and camber has been checked car tracks fine BUT outside edge of tires are wearing

outside edge will wear on passenger side --- power steering causes this ,but if both tyres are wearing then have it tracked with a good old fashioned type tracking bar ,these laser things are only as good as the operator ,if it shows up as parallel then you could have worn bushes on the track control arm,is this vehicle subject to a annual vehicle mechanical inspection like in europe or just an emmisions test american style
