Engine Oil in Coolant and Coolant in the Engine Oil

If the head gasket in your car fails or you cause a failure of the head gasket or cause a crack in the cylinder head from running the car when it is overheating, then engine oil can escape into the coolant passages in the engine and coolant can escape into the lubrication system in the engine.

From what you have described you have some very expensive repairs to deal with.

1. You will need to determine the cause of the engine overheating. It may be from combustion gasses leaking into the cooling system via the head gasket or it may be from a range of other causes such as a faulty thermostat, a failed water pump, a blockage in the cooling system etc etc.
2. From what you have described, the cylinder head(s) will need to be removed and inspected and checked for soundness and any cracking. The valves will need to be inspected The head gasket(s) will need to be replaced.

Most likely a blown head gasket or cracked head, maybe both.

SOURCE: Water mixing with engine oil

Yes I have. The 5.7L Vortech and the 4.3L Vortech share the same problem with the intakes. I just fixed another one recently. I will either lead and the front dr. side corner or the rear pass side corner of the intake. The replacement gasket set are far superior to the stock set.

SOURCE: Oil engine oil mix with water

sounds like you have a problem with the head or head gasket.Pulled out the spark plugs and see if you have any showing signs of leakage from head/gasket.

SOURCE: 2000 Boxster overheating, blowing coolant out of

Whatever you do, do not drive. I got the same problem about 4 hours ago and tried to get home. Half way, no oil pressure, overheat, silly noise from the engine.
Take your Boxster to a shop with a truck, you'll save money.

The engine is 4d33, now there is a heavy mixing of oil in the engine but no oil found in the radiator, when ur pouring water in the radiator it's not getting full whilst it is running

Blown Head Gasket Symptoms:
  • Coolant leaking externally from bellow the exhaust manifold.
  • White smoke from the exhaust pipe.
  • Overheating engine.
  • Bubbles in the radiator or coolant overflow tank.
  • White milky oil.
  • Significant loss of coolant with no visible leaks.

When starting vehicle was getting just a *** of blue/white smoke from exhaust after driving a few miles it has turned into a smoke machine billowing sblueish smoke from exhaust this is a not turbo engine.

Blue smoke from the exhaust is cause by coolant\water mixing in the combustion chamber. The smoke will also have a sweet smell to it. A simple way to confirm this is to check your coolant level. Also if you take the radiator cap off while the engine is running you should get exhaust fumes coming out since the mixing will be both ways. Although this is not always the case the coolant can mix with the engine oil as well so check that as well. The oil will have a milky brown color to it.
There are several things that can cause this but the most common is a blown head gasket. It could also include a warped or cracked head as well.

This usually happens after the engine overheated for a prolonged period of time.

You should get this taken care of A.S.A.P.
Hope this helps and good luck.

I'm losing water out of my radiator but i can't see that it is leaking any where. I'm not sure where the water pump is. For some reason, the water seems to leak out of the over flow when it is hot.

check your radiator cap condition if its ok then your engine must be having a cylinder head gasket problem, normally when engine overheats the cylinder head gasket gets fried-up and the water goes off to the exhaust along with the exhaust gas thats why u dont see any trace of leakage on the floor/ check your engine oil as well if oil and water mix together to conclude the theory.

I have water mixing with oil and they say it is not my head.

Most likely, it is one of the two head gaskets.
Possibly could be a cracked engine block, but not likely.

What are the symptoms?
White smoke coming from the exhaust pipe?
Overheating engine?
Radiator eruptions?
White goop on oil dipstick?

My 2000 Buick Century keeps overheating. We've changed the thermostat and radiator. Any other suggestions

If thermostat is new and you correctly filled radiator by filling while running and let level drop so all fluid goes into block and then fill up radiator again, then you either have faulty temp sensor or plugged exhaust.
