Check the following: 1. temperature sensor if is working, 2. broken wire from the temperature sensor to the Dash Gauge. 3. Dash temperature Gauge, 4. Any Fuse or Relays not working.
You don't say what the make model and year is, but generally the gauges get power from the same place the gas gauge does. Each gauge is grounded thru a sending unit or switch. So my guess would be a problem inside the instrument cluster.
sounds like the stepper motors in the dash are bad, you can have them replaced and they should work again. the other thing that it could be is the dash is going out and soon all the gauges will stop working
there is a fuse for the gauges, if you have an owners manual it will tell you exactly where it is, if not there is a fuse panel inside, either under the dash on drivers side, by the driver side kick panel, or on the side of the dash that faces the door.. and there is also a fuse/relay panel under the hood.
