He is slightly wrong. There is a fuse that powers the airbag control module. But that is it, there would be a different code if the junction fuse box was the problem to that airbag light.

code p 2600 refers to engine coolant pump motor --- open circuit === causes --wiring -- engine coolant pump relay
it also refers to fuel pressure sensor---circuit malfunction===causes --wiring short to positive ---short to ground--fuel pressure sensor

It COULD be that the air bags are leaking, although not likely if they are only a year old. Yes, the lines can break, but it will not cause the airbags to deflate right away. The solenoid on the airbags will keep the air in the airbags for quite a while. If the airbags went down immediately after hearing the popping sound, I would be looking for eather a large hole in one of the airbags or a solenoid that has blown out.
If the airbags went down slowly, it is more likely to be one of the lines. The easiest way to check for leaks in the lines is to spray them with soapy water while the compressor is running and look for the bubbles.

Hi, airbag deployment rarely causing damage to the wiring in the dash. The gauge cluster may of been damaged internally, but this usually shows up right away after repairs are done. I would check the connector on the PCM it is a cam lock design and if its been damaged or not closed properly it can cause crazy things to happen to the gauges. Good luck.

the most common cause of this light is an open circuit in the coiled ribbon contact to the steering wheel airbag, it is under the steering wheel, it looks like a clock-spring and it always the steering wheel to move while maintaining a physical electrical connection to the airbag module on the steering wheel, after thousands of times of coiling and un-coiling it breaks and then the airbag diagnostic monitor senses the open electrical circuit and turns the light on. U must disarm the airbag to remove the steering wheel to replace this contact, if this is not done the airbag can fire and cause serious injury.
