Coolant Leak in 2005 S80 at the Radiator - biodegradable V Cars?
Similar Symptoms - very slow coolant loss/leak. Local Volvo dealer advised that there are numerous plastic parts (we are going Green - right?) including both sides of the main radiator. S80s do run hot it seems - I see on the internet stories about cracks in plastic tanks, houses, main radiators. I was high opinion on Volvo Cars, but NOT anymore. I am shopping for extended warranty plan , German or Japanese car and bicycle - go Green!

If your Hyundai H1 2018 model is losing water from the radiator at an alarming rate, even with a new radiator that is not leaking, there are a few potential causes for this issue:
Coolant leak: While you mentioned that the radiator is not leaking, there could still be a coolant leak elsewhere in the cooling system. Check for any visible signs of coolant leakage, such as puddles under the vehicle or wet spots on hoses, connections, or the engine. Coolant leaks can occur at various points, including hoses, water pump, heater core, or even the engine block itself. If you cannot identify any external leaks, it is possible that the leak is internal, such as a blown head gasket or a cracked engine block.
Faulty radiator cap: The radiator cap plays a crucial role in maintaining the proper pressure and preventing coolant loss. A faulty radiator cap can cause coolant to escape from the system. Inspect the radiator cap for any signs of damage, such as a worn-out gasket or a cracked cap. If necessary, replace the radiator cap with a new one and see if it resolves the issue.
Internal engine issue: Internal engine problems, such as a blown head gasket or a cracked engine block, can cause coolant to mix with the combustion chamber or leak into the oil system. This can result in rapid coolant loss without any visible external leaks. Look for symptoms such as white exhaust smoke, coolant in the oil (appearing as a milky substance on the oil dipstick), or an overheating engine. If you suspect an internal engine issue, it is recommended to have the vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic to diagnose and address the problem.
Improper coolant filling or air pockets: If the coolant was not properly filled or if there are air pockets in the cooling system, it can cause coolant loss. Air pockets can prevent the proper circulation of coolant and result in overheating and coolant loss. In such cases, bleeding the cooling system to remove air pockets and ensuring the coolant level is at the correct level may resolve the issue.
Given the significance of the coolant loss and the potential complexity of the underlying problem, it is advisable to have your Hyundai H1 2018 model inspected and diagnosed by a qualified mechanic or Hyundai service center. They will have the expertise and necessary diagnostic equipment to identify the specific cause of the coolant loss and provide the appropriate repairs or solutions.
Coolant have colour just for this same thing so that you can see where it is leaking. I use green colour coolant which is most common and when I need to find a very minor leak (major ones are visible as green crystalline deposits) normally I use UV light. Under UV light the coolant shows florescence.
Other things to check in such cases are: Radiator cap and Coolant valve which often get choked and do not open resulting in over heating of engine.
I had a similar experience. Finally the car started overheating. Turned out the thermostat went bad and the radiator blew a leak. Had those replaced. Runs great.
One of the gaskets has blown at a point where the a water jacket is blowning into the cylinders but not mixing with an oil jacket on the heads. Try to use some Bars Leak and see if you can get it to seal and if not, their are also aluminum shavings mixed with sealer for some of the worse problems. If it seals you will then know that it will need a gasket replacement at some point
Take the car to a local shop and have the cooling system pressure tested to see where the coolant leak is. That is about all I can suggest from my keyboard.
Check compression. If the leak is internal, then the most common cause is the head gasket. Water (or coolant) leaks internally through the worn head gasket reaching the cylinders where it gets vaporized. Symptoms are coolant fluid level going down, bad performance, loss of compression, overheating, white smoke because of vaporized coolant from exhaust, traces of fuel in coolant reservoir etc.
If head gasket is Ok and there is no overheating, then the leak is external. Check pump, radiator and coolant lines.
First I would check to see if the cars radiator is full. This will eleveate one big problem. Second I would look under the car to see if the coolant tank is cracked and losing coolant because of this damage. Third if tank is damaged , and I believe this is what you will find, you will need to replace your coolant tank. If you call around to your local salvage yards you will be able to pick one up for a lot less than dealer price. I hope this has been helpful to you. GOOD LUCK.
I think it seats on the top frt corner of the engine(follow top radiator hose).
shouldn't be hard to do , you will need torx heads for bolts. Coolant will leak out in small amount , top it up after repair.
Your problem is something like either a hose clip loose /biting into a hose and split it/a metal hose rusted and has a pin hole or a welsh plug (core plug) leaking. or a water plate gasket IE W/Pump/Manifold etc
Because it drips of the centre of engine dosenot mean it coming from the bottom of engine...
