SOURCE: 98 chevy k1500 cruse control
Hi,
Appreciate the "Ask Me".
To my knowledge, Cruise Control would be relatively difficult to diagnose without a scan tool attached to the control module to read the error codes. Additionally, car versions in my country seldom have such a device since our roads are narrower and travel distance is not that great.
Though most known causes are:
Other possible components to check are:
As posted above, quite a number of possibilities. Any other indications, speedometer OK; abnormal throttle responses; abnormal idling, brake light always ON, slack in the accelerator/gas pedal? Was it cutting in/out before? Was there any recent repair work done on the engine before the cruise control cut out?
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
SOURCE: the horn and cruse control don't work
I had the same exact thing happen to me, I found out that there was a recall on the clock spring that I never received a notice for, the repair was made for free through dodge.
SOURCE: what fuse disconnects the cruse control
disable, it for ever? why not pull the cruise switch connector pins.
or just doing service on it.
why not tell goal, what are you doing,
we can not guess that.
no matter, what the FSM covers that.
why not read that.?
Jeep model WJ
here is your answer on fuses.
on modern cars Cruise, is just part of the EFI system.
It's 99% software.
there is NO CRUISE MODULE.
switch >>>PCM>>>ESCS
ESCS is the electronic speed control servo. (solidnoid box)
the PCM supplies power to the ESCS so , if you kill power to the
PCM the engine is now dead. no EFI.
you can try unplugging the ESCS connector
ive no idea how unhappy the PCM will be, why risk that?
do so on a test track or off road, and not kill US, on the road.
on newer cars the PCM slams you to LIMPHOME, for that trick.
no engine power and sucks fuel.
why not stated end goal and ask how to do this safely.?????
