Car won't start whenEngines hot

After driving the car (Mazda MPV) for 15 or so minutes and turn t off, it won't restart for at least 30 minutes. When you try to turn it on, it will only turn over once, each time you try.
Waters, oil, points, battery, distributor, starter, are ok.
When it finally does start, it's like there was nothing wrong with it, it fires up straight away and drives well.
We're in San Diego, and thinking back it didn't seem to be a problem during winter, but the summer heat seems to affect it again.

if light on dash is on, then it sounds like a bad crank sensor. shuts off while driving down road, then will not start for about 15 minutes. heres more causes:: car shuts off when tempurature gets to normal-- low coolant, failing coolant tempurature sensor, air in water pump, failed radiator fan, it takes 10 to 15 minutes for a car to warm up. check or replace coolant temp. sensor if above is ok. have a good day !

Car stalls in traffic on a hot day. it sputters then stalls and would not start until about 15 mins. the car is a mazda 323 with the Z L engin. thank you

try by replacing thermostat and the radiator pressure cap, this may be just the fix! make sure coolant level is fine. it sounds like it has to cool down for at least 10-15 minutes before restarting. god bless!!

1999 mazda 626, 4cyl. Car will not restart after running. If the car sits for several minutes (~15-30) the car will restart and run fine.

Sounds like a possible starter problem if the starter will not turnover the car's engine when hot. Change the starter.

Mazda MPV 1995 , over heat quickly

Your cooling fan(the electric fan in front of the radiator) is either damaged or not spinning. Don't drive it, until you get it repaired, or you
will seriously damage the engine.Good luck.

My 98 Mazda MPV will not restart after being driven for a while.

have car scanned to find problem code. if no scanner go to any auto parts store and they will scan for free. sounds like a cam or crank sensor, have car scanned.

Mazda etude 160ie a/c cuts out after approx 45 min driving.

Could be an electrical part that only fails after getting really hot. Coils and ignition modules are known for this. Unfortunately, these parts cannot be tested for this heat-soak type problems, other than to see if spark quality at the plugs has degraded when failing. One other thought. A bad gas cap which is not allowing air to flow in as gas is used can cause this and that is a cheap part to replace just for grins.

Car stalls changed spark plugs still wont start

Not a lot to go on! Remove the distributor cap and see if turns when the engine is cranked. My guess is the timing belt is shot. Frankster016

Coolant fan not working- engine staying too hot

The fan might not be working because the sensor in the radiator could be bad.
