Providing the vehicle year, make and model are the bare minimum requirements for anyone to provide an accurate answer to your question. Additionally, providing the VIN will decode the engine that was installed when it left the factory for nearly all vehicles.
"You need to get the suffix code off the front pass side, on pad in front of the head. It will be a code thats 6, 7 or 8 digits long. The 1st one will be a letter, next 4 will ne bumbers and last 1, 2, or 3 will be letters.. Like say V0621KH. V0621 if the prefix which tells plant, mo. and day, KH would be the suffix code which tells engine size, HP, induction system, and car it was used in
Your 3858180 is not a vin #, it's the casting number and no it does not decode as a corvette. The casting # does not tell what car it was installed in. Its just the size and year range. That # is added before the engine was ever thought of being built and installed.
3858180....327...1964-67...2 bolt main thats all the casting number decodes as."
1555 but i dont think this is right as my antivirus thingy seems to have locked everything up again ,the only radio decoder that still seems to work is the ford M series
This all depends on whether this is a Windsor engine or a Cleveland engine. The Windsor engine has a 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 firing order. The Cleveland engine has a 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 firing order. You may want to try the Cleveland engine firing order first.
I hope this helps! :) That's a NICE old engine you have there!
