When i start my truck, it idles at 500 rpm and in order to get it to stay started, i have to rev the engine

if i remember right if the battery light and check engine light is on, your alternators may be bad. your battery may just have enough to keep it running for a minute or so. you can take it out and get it tested at a auto parts store. or try charging your battery for awhile and see if it stays on longer. if this is completely wrong let me know

simply just tighten up the accelerator cable so that on idle it hits 750rpm or slightly more 800rpm if your engine condition isn't that good.

Hi:
A couple easy things to check out are your fuel filter and air filter. The fuel filter can be very restricted and cause a similar problem. , The air filter, not so much.
Plugged up catalytic converters can cause a loss of power too.! Hope you find your problem..
