How to reset timing belt light - 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser

Try the video at the link. It is for resetting the oil change reminder, but I suspect the timing belt replace is also on the menu if you go further.

• Hold odo switch ignition on for 5 seconds.
• Switch ignition off release odo.
• Press odo, switch ignition on and continue holding until light goes off.
• Switch key off and check by starting vehicle.
• The light should now be off .

If your timing belt symbol is on then its mileage controlled and trying to tell you something. Get the belt changed and the garage will reset the light. If the belt has just been changed then get the light reset.

Resetting by removing the positive battery terminal or press "clear code" on the diagnostic computer...

Have you replaced the timing belt? The warning light is a maintenance item that shouldn't be ignored. 60k is the average life span of a timing belt and if ignored and belt breaks you're in full a "wallet full" of repairs. Replace if you haven't, then have Toyota or service place reset the light. That's one light you shouldn't ignore.

to reset the light you need to remove speedo dash assembly ,on the back of the printed curcuit there is a small screw and a hole next to it remove screw and fit to empty hole . refit assembly

You must remove the dash panel and you'll find a screw just behind the warning light. You have to swap the screw place...it's written at the back "timing belt reset".

the reset procedure of the timing belt light is all done by pressing the trip meter button and holding it in whilst the ignition is turned to on then select from the trip button then continue pressing until you come to 15 on trip metre, turn off and then restart. The light should then go off.

This light is to advise you that it is due for replacement. If its been done earlier the interval may not have been reset. Any dealer or someone with vehicle diagnostics gear should be able to reset it.
