First chk fuses, of course,
Second chk bulbs on both sides. Yes it has happened
Third check the condition of your turn signal control. If it binds or is sloppy. Have it evaluated. The brake and 4 way circuits run through the turn signal control.

One side of my back stop light does not work i have ford focus 2001

The brake and turn signal lamps are controlled by what Ford calls a multifunction switch [the blinker control on the column]. If the lamp works on turn signal but not on brake, it definitely is the multifunction switch. If neither work, it still could be the switch or a bad wire.

2001 ford focus left tail light not working... left brake light does

You should have the computer scanned for trouble codes for the warning light.
As for the tail light, I would check the socket with a test light or meter to see if the socket is getting power for that circuit. The brake-turn signal circuit of the bulb is different from the tail light circuit.

Rear brakelights and turn signals do not work

The turn signal and brake lights are controlled by the turn signal switch.
You did not mention parking lights so I will assume they work.

Could be a faulty turn signal switch or a wiring problem between the dash and the rear of the van.

Left turn signal doesnt work and my brakelights

  1. Check the fuse make sure it is not busted and also use a designated amp only.
  2. Check the bulb and the wires also.

Brake lights not working but centre mount is!!

the problem is most likely in the turn signal switch. the power for the left and right brake lights goes through the turn signal switch, but power for the center mount comes straight from the brake light switch. this allows the brake light to be turned of so the turn signal can operate as they use the same filimant in the bulb.

1988 ford thunderbird brake lights and turn signals not working

When this happens the problem is most likely the multi-funtion switch aka turn signal switch. Check to see if the 3rd brakelight comes on when the brake pedal is pushed. If so replace the MFS. The 3rd brakelight in late 80's fords bypasses the turnsignal switch.

Ford Focus ZX5...

Yes, did. It turned out to be a short in the wires that powered the center brake light. This short caused power to be refed back through the brakelight switch and through the GEM. Once this was fixed everything started working again, including the cruise control.
