If I had a 1998 car with 218K miles on it and an unimportant thing like the trip meter didn't work I would put a piece of black tape over it and use a GPS as my trip meter.
I have the same problem as bestdad2000.
on my 2001 Buick Century the odometer and trip meter do not light up, but the rest of the instument panel does?? I have been using the trip meter for trip milelage as my gas gage has stop working properly. Help!! [email protected]
i would start with the speed sensor, have the computer scanned for codes that will help to pinpiont the problem,i would bet its the speed sensor, hope this helps.
the B is for your trip meter not your odometer. the sx4 has 2 trip meters a and b that share the display with the odometer., yours is on trop meter b. press in the little black button next to the display to cycle through odometer, trip a, or trip b.
OdometerGears.com has the replacement gears for you to repair your odometer. You need a E20= 20 tooth gear and a 16 tooth medium pod. The price is $54.00 for both including shipping.
If the odometer is part of the speedo head then the unit will need to be pulled out and sent out to an authorized GM repair station, there are no parts sold for it except the entire speedometer, and that is very expensive.
