Would need a little more clarity on what you mean by stay charged. However if you mean that the battery runs down and dies after a period of time with the radio and heat on, then I would go to a car parts place like auto zone, oreilys, or advanced auto parts. They will be able to test your battery and your alternator. It could be that your battery is weak and needs to be replaced, or that your alternator is not charging your battery fast enough. Hope this helped.

Is the charge indicator lit , or battery symbol lit on the instrument cluster ? The charging system on your vehicle is computer controlled . Do you know how to do automotive electrical system testing ? Test for B+ voltage at the alternator connections . Heavy gage wire on the back of the alternator should have B+ voltage ,plus pin #3 at the connector should also have B+ voltage . Your best bet , take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop .

the battery wont stay charged? if youre putting in a fully charged battery and your car runs, but then the battery slowly dies, the problem will be your alternator. the alternator is what maintains a car batteries charge. try replacing the alternator. hope this helps.

F150 Super Crew Cab 2001 Battery light stays on my concern is the battery is not charging because my son crossed the postive land negative leads. It did blow the Radio Fuse but everything else is working...

in many caseas, when the battery cables have been crossed, it would tend to blow a (or more than one) rectifier diode(s) in the alternator. I would take the truck to a parts dealer (such as autozone or checker, etc.) or your dealer to have a VAT(Voltage, Alternator, Test) done. it is usually free. good luck!!

Won't stay running

Check the voltage while its running, should be around 14 volts, if the alternator is working right, charge the battery over night, crank it up and pull the terminals off the battery, it should stay running by itself without the battery, if the alternator is charging....sounds like a charging problem.
