Basically just need to know whether it has a timing belt or chain and when would it need replacing? Also if you could shed some light on the service book, I have eight stamps in the book but four have been ticked as a service and service inspection, but the other four only the service inspection box has been ticked. would they count as a service? Not quite sure so if someone could help it would be much appreciated, thanks
Autodata publications show it as a timing belt
recommended timing belt change at 80.000miles
this is qualified by driving conditions , highway speeds , dirt , dust and oil leaks all of which will drastically reduce the service life of the belt
the engine is identified as an intereference engine which means valve damage if the belt breaks or the replacement is not done according to correct procedure
the labor time in an accredited service shop is listed as 3.8 hours
if you have been having the services done according to the service book it should be correct in what has been ticked
you can always verify it at a service dealer shop
as the manufacturer runs engine with both chains and belts , you can verify it is a belt if it has a plastic cover over the area of the timing belt.
if it is a chain it will be a full metal cover
Testimonial: "Thank you very much for such a quick and detailed response. Regarding the services its because I have just bought the vehicle and its the first four services are ticked as both and the last four they have only ticked the box where it says service interval inspection?"
