2005 XC90 T6 AWD making a whirling noise upon acceleration

I have a 2005 XC90 T6 AWD and it has $85k miles on it. It has been making a whirling noise almost like a wind up car when accelerating. I have already had the transmission replaced once, and am wondering if that what it is.

Add me to the list. Just got back from a Volvo dealership in Chicago and was told the 'winding' noise we're experiencing during deceleration in our 2004 XC90 is due to a failing transmission,so i would suspect the same accelerating. hope all works out for you

I own a 2003 Volvo xc90 awd when I give it gas I hear a knocking noise on right side of car towards the back it's a 2003 Volvo xc90 t6 awd is this dangerous can I still drive the car

Could be a catastrophic failure in the mist, especially if the front side of your driveshaft falls while cruising down the road and then your car pole-vaults itself like an olympian. There are remote audio+video systems that you can install under the car to use as an extra set of eyes and ears to help pinpoint the problem. But, yes--get it looked at quickly.

How do I fix the knocking noise from the rear of my truck?

You just have to let the mechanics do the job, this is not something you can resolve without specialist knowledge. What you can do is check around for recommendations.Look around for somebody with a good reputation in driveline work/ diffs propshafts .....who dows not charge the earth.
A reputable company will save you money in the long run

GOOD LUCK

Your car need a few good screws ;-)

Seriously, check under the handle for 2 Philips (cross) head screws, I think a number 2 Ph screwdriver will work to tighten them.
