Hi Paula:
Assuming that it has failed and is being replaced, there's no need to be overly gentle.
Remove the fluid delivery tube by undoing the connector.
Remove the bolt(s) that secure the cylinder.
It should now be able to be removed with a couple of delicate taps from a ball pein hammer, or some gentle prying with a screw driver.
Cheers,

    Hi Paula:
Here's the link to a video for a typical clutch slave cylinder removal.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-U_QEn4...
Once you've disconnected the supply tube and taken the mounting bolts off, there should be nothing holding it in place.
Have a look and get back to me if you still are having a problem.

My 1993 ford escort is hanging in neutral when trying shift and when the clutch is fully engaged the car still wants to move. There is no slipping of the clutch once i get to moving. Does this sound like...

You have a worn out slipping clutch, the biggest load and most slipping always takes place when you start out, as speed increases the clutch slips less and less. A defective slave or master will not cause these symptoms, the pedal will just go to the floor and not come back up or have a real spongy feel to it. Have any shop you want drive this to confirm my guess as to what you need being the clutch replaced.

How do u blead a clutch in a 1992 ford escort 1.8

ani_caut.gif CAUTION: Be careful not to spill clutch fluid onto a painted surface.
  1. Remove the bleeder cap from the slave cylinder and attach a vinyl hose to the bleeder screw.
  1. Place the other end of the hose in a container.
  1. Slowly pump the clutch pedal several times.
  1. With the clutch pedal depressed, loosen the bleeder screw to release the fluid and air.
  1. Tighten the slave cylinder bleeder screw.
  1. Repeat steps 3 through 5 until no air bubbles appear in the fluid.
  1. Tighten the slave cylinder bleeder screw to 6-9 Nm (52-78 lb-in).

Where is the clutch hydraulic reservoir on a 1993 ford escort lx?

The clutch and brake system use the same reservoir, there is a hose coming out from the side of the reservoir that goes over to the clutch master cylinder. Sometimes the brake fluid level goes low as brake pads wear and lowers the fluid level too low to work the clutch. Hope this helps, let me know.

Replacing a master and slave clutch cylinders on a

remove the battery and the battery tray, the fluid line and the two bolts that hold on the clutch master and remove.you may need to bleed the new one at the slave cylinder by having someone depress the pedal and letting the air out and tighten the line again before they release the pedal, but i think by pushing the pedal up and down a few times it will be ok. if the shifter wont go into gear or the car starts to move when only slightly moving the pedal of the floor then bleed it.
