Where is the power control module on a 1997 ford escort wagon?

PCM / ECU is located in front of the center console.
Remove center console:
Remove plastic retaining plugs on each side of front of console use a very small screwdriverto lift the center plug.
Move front seats all the way forwarding and remove two back screws on the back part of the console.
Lift up the front end of the rear part of console and remove two screws that hold down the front part of console, rear of shifter.
Before you can remove the front part of the console the gear shifter must be moved from out of park position, if your car is an automatic. Note: If the battery is disconnected you will need to use the emergency access portin the top of the console. Remove a small cover plug and insert a small screwdriver or ink peninto the hold to release the shift lever out of park. With the shift lever out of the way the console can be removed.

Unable to put Jeep Liberty in gear. The shifter moves however it moves way to easily. I've removed the center console, did a visual inspection, and nothing looks out of the ordinary. Where should I start...

Have you checked the shift linkage at the transmission to make sure it is moving with the shifter?

Make sure the shift cable is attached to the transmission shift lever.

If the linkage does not move when the shifter is moved, the cable may be broken and need replacement.

Buick Century 2000 gear shifter moves freely will not start

Sounds like your shift cable came unhooked or just plain Broke, it hooks to shifter and hooks to transmission, If it moves freely I would say it's Broken, and that is why car won't start cause it is still in drive

My 2004 chevy cavalier won't start it is stuck in

Your shifter cable sounds like it separated from the transmission or shifter or just broke. you are probably stuck in a moving gear so the neutral safety switch is disabling the ignition.
