If the clutch is faulty then when changing gears and letting the clutch out , the engine will rev higher and not speed the car up
That is not a low power problem but a clutch or clutch system problem ( cable or hydraulic clutch master cylinder ) no power is from accelerator is not getting a response from the air / fuel mixture
run the fault codes to check for sensor problems

You are most correct. Chances are a slipping or stripped clutch disc.

2003 nissan altima se 3.5 l wont shift into 3rd gear

  • Low transmission fluid levels: If the transmission fluid is low, it can cause shifting problems. Check the fluid level and add more if necessary.
  • Faulty transmission control module (TCM): The TCM is responsible for controlling the transmission and if it malfunctions, it can cause shifting problems.
  • Clogged transmission filter: A clogged transmission filter can restrict the flow of fluid and cause shifting problems.

1995 Nissan Altima Stuck in First Gear

1. check transmission fluid level or if you can change the fluid & filter.
2. check throttle position sensor (tps).
3. if fluid level & tps are ok & still not upshifting automatically, temporarily (so you can take it to a transmission specialist) , try to manually shift. starting from dead stop, shift to D1. at about 25mph shift to D2. (be gentle on the accelerator & don't over rev on each gear. release accelerator pedal & don't step on the brakes while shifting from D1 & D2).

2003 chevrolet cavalier, manual transmission lost 2nd, 4th and reverse but still has 1st, 3rd and 5th gears.

Sounds like one of the levers inside the transmission is either broken or otherwise disengaged. Remove the shifter to see if you can see any obvious reason.

The transmission is failing here, you need a transmission repair shop tech to drive this and give you the finale word but i think you will need a transmission rebuild.

2003 altima 2.5 l rough shift from 1st to 2nd, disappears once warmed up

This can be caused by a sticky solenoid which is not a huge or expensive part but is a pain to change, you need to get the car plugged into a live scanner for the auto where it can be driven while the fault is being observed, this way they can determine which solenoid is at fault.

I have a 2003 ford focus with a 5sp manual transmission, i just got the wheel bearing fixed and now my car idles at regular 1800 rpms, but i lost all power essentially my shift light is always on even in...

If your car lacks power it needs the extra RPMs to push the weight of the vehicle. Most cars idle smoothly at about 700 RPMs. Check the engine compression on all cylinders. If they are all even (within 10lbs) and about 100 psi or more then you may just need a tune up or some work done on the fuel system. Hopefully the engine isn't running hot or has oil control problems which will require some major repairs.

Rattling / grinding sound coming from engine area when vehicle is in gear and car break is applied, but when gear is set into neutral noise stops. Was told the problem was the aircondition compressor....

Just a couple ideas...
Your engine and transmission will shift slightly when in drive, and maybe that movement is allowing it to rub on something. Another issue may be that the noise is actually from the transmission.
Torn motor mounts will allow the drive train to shift or move farther than normal.

4L 60E - 2001 k1500 will not shift into 3-4. Oil is not burn't and stifts great into1-2

  • No 3rd or 4th gear: “3-4” clutches are worn out. R&R. The car is safe to drive (in 2) until you can get it fixed.
  • Trans shifts into gear harshly, car feels sluggish off the line, No 1st, 4th or TCC lockup available, Manual 2nd, 3rd and Reverse are only available gears, CEL is on: Transmission is either in limp-home mode or has lost electrical power. If there are lots of error codes in the PCM, check the under hood fuse that powers the transmission, and if it pops again, look for a short in that circuit like an O2 sensor harness touching exhaust. Otherwise, check PCM codes for a particular fault in the transmission causing the PCM to put it in limp-home mode.
  • No 1st or 4th available; trans shifts 2nd to 3rd by itself in D or OD and locks the converter : Shift A solenoid failed. Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM.
Check to see if your transmission is in the limp mode, which would only give you 2nd, 3rd and reverse gears. No 1st or 4th gear.

If car shakes violently when brakes are pressed, this is probably the rotors.

If car will not shift gears, you better get your wallet out, because it is probably your transmission. An engine diagnosis will not pick this up.
