The fuel filter is located underneath the hood of the vehicle. Open the hood and
look near the upper firewall on the passenger side. The fuel filter is a
black or silver metal container connected to your fuel line.
Usually plugged fuel filters and/or bad pumps cause loss of power at the high end (full throttle) when you are sucking down the fuel not so much at the low end.
Rough idles can be a lot of things, usually something to do with the fuel mixture or timings. Dirty injectors, distributor problems, streatched out timing chain/belts... those are a few common rough idle issues.
Has the fuel economy gone down? Does it still have good acceleration?
There is two possible locations. One is inline which is under the car, the other is in engine compartement. First you need to remove the gas cap and release fuel pressure. Also relieve pressure on fuel rail with a rag to catch excess fuel. Than use a flex nut wrench to remove filter, or remove claps that hold on filter. Some filters require special cheap plastic tools that will remove the filter connections. Remove filter and replace with new one. and your done.
