You need to have 4 things for gas engine. , 1. compression, 2. Gas or fuel, 3, spark, 4. air. to find out here is the fastest way to test. Remove a spark plug wire from spark plug put a screw driver into the boot of the wire and put it 1/4 inch away from a good metal ground with another person cranking the engine over see if there is blue spark, yes? then go to next test get a can of starting fluid and spray a 2 second burst into the intake while cranking the engine, does it try to start? if yes you have a fuel problem, things to check replace fuel filter, remove fuel tank and check fuel pump and fuel sock depending on year, if it's a mechanic pump you will need to test it to see if the check valve is bad or a blown diaphragm. next put your hand over the intake manifold and crank the engine does it have vacuum? yes? then most likely you have compression, if not then you may have broken a timing belt to know for sure does it crank over fast? if so you will need to replace a timing belt. If you need more help you will have to supply us with make year and engine size to help you.

You could have a fuel pump, or spark issue. You need to know what is missing first!!! Fuel or spark.

I have a 2011 GMC Sierra 6.6 turbo diesel I ran out of diesel I put to gallons of diesel and now it won't start what can I do

The fuel system needs to to have the air bled out of it. I suggest having a technician do it for you to prevent serious injury and damage to the vehicle.

My car sounds like it wants to start but it won't, we replaced the fuel filter and it sounds exactly like it did before we replaced it, still won't start.

Make sure battery has a full charge.
Try cycling the ignition switch on and off several times before you crank it, to see if it helps. If it helps, check your fuel system. My info says fuel pressure, 35--45 psi.
How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes?

1995 blazer cylinder full of fuel. starter wont engage changed fuel pressure regulator.. ran great then wouldnt start

Check oil at dipstick for too much gas in oil thinning it to the point where the engine seized and won't turn over. If the cylinder was full of gas, this is a possibility. If the cylinder was full of gas, the fuel injector(s) might be stuck open causing this problem. Good luck on this problem.

Motor turns over won't start. Cleaned terminals, put in new battery, still won't start. Removed gas cap to vent air on hot day, still won't start. Lights all come on, all electrics appear to...

Your problem may be one of the following:
First check or just replace the fuel filter. Usually located under the car in front of the rear axle, drivers side.
Next, the fuel pump may be worn out. Usually they get loud or stop working (running).
Next, check the fuel pressure regulator. Usually located on the front fuel rail, drivers side.
Is the vacuum line attached? Not leaking or rotted?
Also, do you smell a strong fuel odor when it won't start? May be one or more stuck-open injectors, or the coil pack is bad.
Checking these in the order listed will more than likely fix your problem.
The clicking noise indicates the battery can no longer run the starter, which also means the fuel pump won't run either.

It could be a fuel issue. How old is the fuel filter? Can you hear the pump run for a few seconds when you turn the key on? Try turning the key to ON without trying to start engine three times waiting for the pump to stop running each time. Then try to start the engine. If it starts, Its a form of Vapor lock caused by the extreme heat we have had lately, and a weak fuel pump.

If none of this works, try a new fuel filter first. From there have someone check the fuel pressure regulator and then the pump. If you are in need of a new pump, take my word for it and spend the money to get one from a Dealer, and not from your favorite parts store. Most parts store parts are made in China and they are JUNK.

97 chevy blazer w/ 4.3 won't start unless i pour full directly into it....what is causing this. was driving and it just stalled ...fires but won't turn over completely

if you can put fuel in throttle body and it runs. then it is not getting any fuel. check your fuel pump fuse and the relay, if ok, then you may have a bad fuel pump or a plugged up fuel filter. check filter and fuses first. good-day !!

My ford expedition won't start i change the fuel

If it a diesel then you must be aware that when changing a filter and pump they must be full of fuel, otherwise it won't **** the fuel into the engine.

Car will turn over fine but won' start, as if it is starved for gas. the car is full and i have also checked the fuse for the fuel pump and it is fine.

but is the fuel pump working.if you remove the air snorkel and spray intake cleaner into the intake while someone tries to start the car and it starts then you have a fuel problem.either the pump, plugged fuel filter, fuel injectors not working, dirt in the fuel system.check the fuel pressure if it doesn`t start when spraying cleaner into the intake.
