Where is knock sensor

This was answered in 2012 by yadayada (Mazda Expert):
"The knock sensor is located under the intake manifold to replace do the following
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the intake manifold.
Disconnect the sensor connector.
Remove the sensor from the engine block.
Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure
"
My 2 cents ... there might be chance to access the sensor from underneath

Replace clutch

Disconnect wires and sensors from above (under the hood). Raise car. Disconnect wires and sensors underneath the car. Support the engine and transmission. Loosen or disconnect some motor mounts. Remove the bolts that hold the engine and transmission together. Remove bolts that attach clutch to flywheel. Seperate engine and tranny. Remove clutch. Installation in reverse.

Better directions given if you say what car you're asking about.

Sensor replacemet procedure

Well the basic and most simple way to describe your answer which is very basic as well, is 1st disconnect your Neg battery cable from the battery then disconnect the pigtail from the sensor and then remove the sensor replace it with the new sensor and install is reverse of the removal. Of course depending on what sensor your replacing the job will be either easy or difficult depending on its location and access.
