The Ignition starter switch is located directly to the rear of the ignition lock cylinder and it is directly actuated by the lock cylinder. You must remove the outer covers of the column to replace it. Below is a picture of the switch. Use the OEM part as it is far better than aftermarket parts and about the same price.
Check to see if the rear directional lamps work,if they do then check the brake lamp switch at the pedal,if the switch has power at both terminals when the pedal is pushed down, they directional switch should be replaced.
The power lock problem is definately the electric lock actuator in the door. Replace it. The power window problem could be the switch or the motor. Put a test light on the motor connections. Operate the power window switch up and down. If the light works both directions, then replace the motor. If the light only lights one direction, then replace the switch... and you still might have to replace the motor afterward so do not think that replacing the switch is absolute. They sometimes fail together.
1. Seek a replacement switch via a local salvage yard. 2. Look in a Haynes manual ($20) for direct directions as to how to remove and replace it.
If the switch is simply sticking you can clean it using CRC QD Electronic Cleaner. Use the straw to shoot the cleaner in the gaps between the switch and face plate and then work the switch. (TEST A SMALL AMOUNT FIRST with a rag - this stuff can on occasion melt some plastics) better to know before you completely melt the button.
chance are youre dealing with a bum switch. locate the 2 wires going directly into the lift motor and ground one and go hot with the other. then switch. if it goes in both directions, replace the switch, if not replace the lift motor. cheers
It could be something very simple. You may have bumped the dash board light dimmer switch. It is a small slider switch directly above the rear fog light switch which is directly above the headlight switch. This slide switch will adjust the brightness of your dash board lights or shut them off. If you didn't bump this switch, then this switch may just be bad and need replacing. If everything else works, then it is probably the switch.
If the motor is only moving top one direction, either the switch is bad or the motor is bad. You can use an ohmmeter or volmmeter to test the switch. Place meter probes on the wiring that attaches to motor. Now press the switch in both directions. See if there is power in both directions from switch. If not the switch is bad. If you do get power both directions, than the motor will need to be replaced.
