Code PO340 engine warning light on; PO340 error on 2005 PT cruiser, 58K miles, manual trans engine won't turn over immediately, but will after several seconds, as long as i don't feed it any gas, and runs smoothly...sputters and jumps in first three gears when trying to accelerate...in 4th gear, smooths out... help!

Try getting a check done on your alternator to make sure it is charging the battery, if your alternator is not charging then your battery light will stay on, hope this helps

(transmission control module) you said check engine light is on that means codes are being stored , OBD needs to be scaned that's a start. (interesting name).

What would cause a 2005 PT Cruiser to lurch intermittently?

This would be very good justification for you to buy a cheap OBDII scanner through Amazon or your local auto parts store. Next time it happens, plug the scanner in immediately and read the error code(s) out of the computer. Then you'll know what's happening. The failure is intermittent, whatever it is, so you need to catch it while the error code is still "live".

I need to know where the Cam Shaft sensor is for my 2005 PT Cruiser is. My car is sputtering and the car is not starting when the switch is turn on.

the cam sensor is near the battery. it is on the end of the cylinder head rear. you should have a code po340 if the cam sensor is bad. get someone to scan it before replacing the sensor . check under the car for a wire rubbing on the cv shaft that goes to the crank sensor.

Warning lights PT cruiser

that is likely the check engine light. if you live near an autozone they will scan it for codes (free) and that should tell you why the light came on

transmission is electronic shift via solenoids. need to check your charging system sounds klike your alternator is going bad. this could very well mess with trans also

P0340 is a Crankshaft Position Sensor error. It determines firing order and is most likely the cause of your problem. It's mounted near the oil filter on the engine block. Below is a picture of how it appears in your car. Best of luck.

CODE PO340 IS NO CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT FAILURE. WHAT ITS SAYING.YOUR CMP SENSOR CONNECTOR IS DAMAGE OPEN OR SHORTED.CMP SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN OR CMP SENSOR HAS FAILED.

YOU NEED TO REPLACE (OR HAVE REPLACED) THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. I RECOMMEND A SHOP DO THIS.
