If it really did overheat, the engine may have shut off as a safety factor. Or the engine could have locked up.

SOURCE: my 95 olds 98 has the same problem

I had the same problem a few days ago.Would you believe the power windows are on the same ground circuit as the fuel pump?It sounds crazy but true. What I did was take off the entire power window switch on the driver side door and flip it over. You'll see a black wire entering the switch.Thats your ground wire for the power windows.Splice another ground wire upon that black wire and connect it to a good ground source.I grounded the wire I spliced in upon the steel plate that holds the part where you put your hand to close the door.

Never had a single problem since.I would seriously try that.I'm betting it will solve your problem.

That is likely a ground problem.I had the same issue a few days ago with a customers car.See my response to another individual who has the same problem. It also did away with the hot ac-disabled problem and no more stalling. This might not solve your problem but I would seriously try it.

SOURCE: i have a 98 olds bravada. i have it on ac but hot

Lisa, could be a fuse, try this, open the hood have some one start the engine and turn on AC full cold you should here a click and the engine rpm should drop slightly, if not, the fuse may be blowen, the drive belt for the compressor maybe blowen, or you lost all the charge in the system.

Based on the information you have given to this point, I am just going to give you a few possiblities. Have you had a tune up done recently? Air filter been checked or changed? I am not in any way trying to sound sarcastic so I apologize if I come off that way. Those would be my first things to inspect if I were ask to look at your car. I would also check fuel pressure and inspect the fuel pressure regulator.I would consider these things and go from there. I Hope this helps you but please let me know if you need more information on what to do next but I may need some more information at that time also .

It is in the gas tank. You would have to drop the tank to get to it.

The starter is near the bottom rear of the engine. Just follow the large (red) cable from the battery.
