A control module ! Electronics The steering column has a tilt/telescoping control system that consists of an electronic control module capable of class 2 serial data communication, a steering column power assembly with positioning motor and sensor, and a steering column control switch. The multi-function lever provides for the control of the headlamp high beams, and the windshield washer and wiper.
The tilt/telescoping steering column in/out/up/down switch is an input to the driver position module (DPM). The tilt/telescoping drive motor is an output function of the DPM.
Steering column memory settings are stored in the DPM. The steering column position sensor is an internal part of the tilt/telescoping motor assemblies, and is an input to the DPM. The DPM uses the position sensor input when storing and recalling memory settings.
Same thing with the seats , electronic control module .
Battery positive voltage is supplied at all times to the memory seat module (MSM) through the battery positive voltage circuit from the POWER SEATS circuit breaker located instrument panel (I/P) fuse block. This voltage is used to power up MSM and also to apply power to the seat motors when commanded. Battery positive voltage from the TILT/TELE SW/MEM SEAT MOD fuse located in the body control module (BCM) fuse block that supplies voltage to the seat adjuster switch and the memory function switch, also supplies voltage to the MSM. The MSM monitors this voltage circuit in order to determine if battery voltage is supplied to the seat adjuster switch. The MSM is grounded through the module ground circuit and G301.

Testimonial: "I found the problem. when I inspected the breaker in the small box with the fuses under the passenger carpet, The breaker was very hot. I removed it and let it cool down. When I put the breaker back in everything but the drivers seat forward and reverse worked and there was a relay clicking somewhere. It took some investigating but I found a thin metal rail that holds wire looms underneath the drivers seat closest to the door was bent. Apparently something got between that and the floor and put some wires in a bind and shorted the seat forward and reverse motor. I straightened the thin bracket and secured the wires out of harms way. no severed wires or exposed copper so I bolted the seat back in place. So far so good"

Where's the fuse exactly for the drivers seat , also the power tilt steering wheel fuse? Thanks for a 2004 mercedes e320 4mattic

Try checking the handbook. Have you tried contacting Mercedes technical support? Also, try searching online for a wiring diagram. The fuse layout should be in there.

1998 BMW 740i driver power seat and tilt not working?

If your driver's seat and the steering column adjustments are not working, check the switch assembly on the side of the driver's seat. Look at the wiring harness plug. Is it properly and securly plugged in? This is a common problem, the harness plug housing breaks and the plug comes loose.

Driver power seat adjustment and steering tilt not

It would appear that the relay is misfunctioning. Try swapping one from nearby and when your car won't start but your seats operate then you'll know what to do. THanks, Dana

How to fix the tilt steering.. won't go down even when you push the auto button. My heated seats ain't workin either..(driver & passenger seat)

Most often, the stuck steering wheel is a result of a faulty 'tilt relay switch.' If you attempt to use the tilt switch and you can hear a clicking/whirring noise, then its your relay switch, if not, it may be the motor that is broken.

Lower steering wheel tilt in 2006 G6 GTP

you will not alter the steering angle more that what you have
however you can raise the seat
get a piece of RHS x 1/8" thick ( comes is dimension 1x1", 2x2", 2x1" and 3x1") and by drilling new bolt holes for where the seat runners are , you can raise your seat up to 3"
Any body with mechanical experience can do it for you or get an engineering shop to make the bits for you
