My 2007 toyota yaris shift lever is stuck on park, what could be the problem?

the lever shift is move from P ?
check the at fluid for leaks

If you cannot shift out of PARK (P), ease the pressure on the shift lever. Push the shift lever all the way into PARK (P) as you maintain brake application. Then move the shift lever into the gear you want. If you are still having a problem shifting, then have your vehicle serviced soon.

all time first that, usually its other way.
going from load to no load, should never fail.
so is the power 12vdc dropping as you move the lever
turn lots of things on, lamps, park , radio. etc.
is there a lost of 12v power at the stall.?

i cant read that.
1: i can't move shift lever, from park to drive?
2: the car will not move, that is i can not drive car.
3: the oil from (what) is overflowing. what oil, landing where?

the #3 is the most perplexing,
can you crank engine?
does engine start?
if engine oil is on the drive way, do not start car. or risk burning up engine,, (brown oil, not stink to high heaven)
if A/T (ATF) its pink oil, if on drive way, then the tranny is breached.
do not drive or the tranny will burn up.


to sure #1 , read the operators guide.
you start the engine,
apply the foot brake and the shifter lock ,releases.

It can be issue with gears or problem with transmission and needs to be rebuilt. Also get the ****** fluid checked. If it's low, then such problems occurs.

The shifter needs to be inspected. If The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities.

Shift lock control unit is the transmission control switch which detects the shift lever in S

put your key into the slot next to the shifter and turn if necessary. put key into ignition put your foot on the brake and shift out of park. goodluck

you dont say front or rear,or wether parked outside or garaged,and is it the handbrake????
