the 2500 uses at least 6 versions. of box. tranny codes IDs. M30 or MT1 and 4 engines

you do know each engine opted day one the gear ratios can be different. right?
the shop manual on the box shows huge table of variant for series 4L80
the codes are called by GM model codes.

I say read your C1500 RPO list see if it is M30 box
and buy , that box and model code matched.
know this too, GM will not have PCM programming for boxed not sold day1 new that C1500/

You have to love the GM Transmissions. The P1870 Code is very common and the problem is quite simple to resolve but will cost you approximately $200 for the work to be done if you capable of doing the work.

There is a place in Denver that everyone in my area sends the Valve Body's too. The hole in the Valve body is not big enough and sets the code. I have had the same problems with over 10 different GM Products from 95-2004 Chevy Trucks (4L60E and also the Front Wheel Counterparts 4T60E). What you have to do is Drop the Pan, Pull the Valve Body Off and send it to a reputable Transmission repair facility in your area and they will ship it out and get the work done (Normally $200) and then you get a new gasket and reinstall the Valve Body and the problem will go away. P.S. Don't Lose the Check Valve Balls!!!!!

Although you do not feel the Slip, the sensors are picking it up and there is nothing you can do unless you get a new Valve Body or get your drilled out and repaired.

About this OBD code can find several TSB's, if you can visit your dealer and check it, is good.

Do you have a 1 piece case or does the bell housing unbolt? A 700R4 usually has 3 switches on the back of the valve body.the one closest to the 1-2 accumulator (pass. side rear corner) is the fourth switch. If you have a two piece case, you have a 4L60E,the pressure switch is still on the valve body but it is an assembly,not a single switch.

1870 is a transmission error code which indicates excessive wear in the valve body and is usually accompanied by unusual shifting. This is a problem requiring a shop fix unless you are familiar enough with transmissions to attempt the repair yourself. You can go to transmissioncenter.net and you will find the part which will fix this error code from recurring. Unfortunately, you may have to have the transmission rebuilt. I am not affiliated w/PATC, but they are the best source for parts, builds and advice there is for GM 4L60E transmissions.

I have a 4L60E in my GMC and it blew i replaced it, everywhere i went said they are year spacific. If you cant find a 4L60E look for a M30 Transmission most are in Yukons and Surburbans but they are out there. Make sure its from a 1500. Mine runs great now

There are a couple sights where I found GREAT info about 4L60E repair!! I'm new to tranny's but because of these sights, my first total rebuild is almost done!!
