How do reset the maintenance light on my 2013 prius
The "maintenance required" light came on, but this has synthetic oil that was changed at 5,000 miles so nothing needed until 10,000 miles. How do reset this for another 5,000 miles?

With the ignition off Push the 00/set button located in the center of your instrument cluster. While holding down the button turn ignition to on. Release the button and then press it one more time and hold it for 10 seconds it should reset. When it resets turn ignition to off I release the button
Take it to your nearest Toyota service department and have the required service performed. Believe me, preventive maintenance is much cheaper than repairs that are required from part failure from a missed service.

The maintenance required light is there to remind you that your oil change is due. This light needs to be reset after the oil ic changed, it is manually reset. If you just had your oil changed, the light will not go off by itself. The light is designed to illuminate after 5,000 miles since the last reset procedure.
The maintenance required light lets you know its time for an oil change. Once the oil is changed the light can be reset. The light will usually blink for a few seconds as you approach the 5,000 mile mark and then stay on steady as the 5,000 mile mark is reached or surpassed.
this is just your maintence minder. the reset procedure should be in your owners manual. the vehicle calculates when its due for an oil change and turns the light on but it should be reset every oil change if its on or not. you can can your local acura/honda dealer and they can explain how to reset
No different from any other oil change, just reset the oil life on the dash if it has one which i believe it does. The oil grade is 5W-30 on the turbo engines and 10W-30 on the non turbo engines. If you like you can go with the synthetic oil which will give you up to 25,000 miles or 1 year before service, but you do have to replace the oil filter every 5,000 to 7,000 mile and top off the synthetic oil which in the long run be cheaper then changing the oil andfilter every 5,000 miles or six months for turbo and 3,000 to 4 months for non turbo engines. Good luck and hope this helps.
The motor oil from the factory is motocraft synthetic blend 5w-30 for normal conditions and motocraft synthetic blend 5w-20 for cold environments. But any synthetic blend or full synthetic of equal weight will do just fine and you will require 5 quarts of oil. DO NOT USE A THICKER WEIGHT OIL, OIL ADDITIVES OR NON SYNTHETIC. Thicker oil like 10w-30, 10w-40, 20w-50 will not be thin enough to lubericate the tighter clearences of the motor and coventional oil breaks down faster than a synthetic blend or synthetic. And be sure to change the oil every 5,000 miles
This is already covered in the owner's manual, but here it is again as a quick reference.
Every 5,000 miles, a "Maintenance Required" light will blink for the
first couple seconds after you start your car. It will continue to do
so until it is reset. If it is not reset, than it will eventually turn
on your "Check Engine" light. The purpose of the maintenance required
light is to remind TC owners to change their oil. The factory
recommended interval is 5,000 miles, but you can reduce the interval
the light will come on to a mileage interval of your choice.
1. Before starting, make sure that the odometer is not on one of the
trip mileage odometers but is displaying the standard odometer.
2. With the car off, press and hold down the odometer reset button. While still holding it, start the car.
3. The light should continue to blink for a couple seconds and than
disappear. That will reset the light for another 5,000 miles.
4. The following are steps to change the interval in which the
maintenance required light comes on. Right after you turn on the
ignition while holding the reset button, you'll notice that the
odometer display will show 5 bars. Each bar corresponds to a 1,000
miles. As each bar disappears, the interval will increase (0 bars = 5k,
1 bar = 4k). Release the reset button at the interval you desire.
It means that 5,000 miles have passed since your last oil change or reset of the indicator, change the oil if it has not already been done.
you can reset the indicator by putting your key in the slot next to the indicator if you have one, Or try to hold down the "Trip" button so it resets and this should work
