P0153 error code for 2000 Ford Taurus SES V6 3.0L

Check engine light came on while driving on freeway at 60mph. Computer diagnostic reported error code P0153. After 1 hr technician said that there are multiple sensors and any one could be not working, so will take another 1 hr to pinpoint which one is bad and then replace.

What does P0153 mean for 2000 Ford Taurus? What would it take to get it fixed and how much would it cost?

Thanks for helping!

The tech is right.. the trouble codes do not tell you what is wrong with the car... they just give you a general area to look in which involves testing multiple components and sensors. if the tech quoted you for and hour diag time i would say that you should at least expext to spend somewhere in the 300$ area depending on part cost.

Came up with error code p0153 for 2000 ford taurus will that cause the car to idle fast?

The code P0153 is for O2 sensor with slow responce on bank 21. This will not make your car idle fast. You have either an IAC problem or unmetered air. You should take your car to the dealership. They can pin point the fault and tell you exactly what is wrong with your car. Then the dealership can stand behind thier repair. There are many things that can cause your car to idle fast. So before you waste your time and money on people's guess... just pay to have it diagnosed by a profesional. (dealership)

You need the engine control computer scanned by a dealer for faults, this is absolutely essential to figure out what is wrong here.

My 2004 ford taurus is 98 000 miles and the engine light is on the dashboard just now what i should do ?

You will need to put your car on a diagnostic fault code reader. The engine malfunction light will come on if there is a fault with the emissions if it runs ok and isn't misfiring it's probably a oxygen sensor fault or a catalyst fault. The light won't go out unless the fault is cleared

Systems maintenance light came on; what shall I do now? I drove over an hour at @ 65 mi p hr to the train station no rain, then sat in the drizzly cold rain for over and hour with the car running, heat on;...

I assume you are saying you have a check engine light illuminated.

Most auto parts stores will read the OBD II code(s) for check engine lights at no charge. The codes they read will give you an idea of what the problem is.

Tachometer bounces and idiot lights come on

well that would lead me to believe that your crank position sensor is going bad, and it will not show up on a computer scan for fault codes, I would have it checked along with cam sensor and replaced if necessary, before you get left somewhere desolate and the car wont start even after the sensor cools down
