Hi Armando, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

LIMP MODE is what the transmission is put into by the trans controller when it has a problem that will affect shifting. Limp-in-mode is just what it say. Its so you can limp the vehicle to the garage in one gear to get it repaired. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website at: http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

Hi Mary, You have not told us the vehicle make or model, or basically anything we can use to determine what fault it may have. Take your vehicle to a reputable garage and ask them to carry out a diagnostic scan. Regards John

My 1997 MK5 Ford Transit 2.5 Tdi Starts, will not go above idling, and when trying to it suddenly stops, and the ECU lights up.

Sounds like it's in limp mode. Limp mode means your car is basically limping along. There's normally something wrong with the ecu or possibly a multitude of other things. Take it to the manufacturer and let them at least dianose it.

It will not go pass 30

check the fuel filter, if it plugs up this can cause no fuel flow to engine. Also check the air filter and the plugs, and wires, if not the filter. It can be most anything but hope this helps. or it may of went into limp mode, if so call or take it to a garage.

Limp mode reset

limp mode means something is broken, with
PCM or TCM. (bad sensors or actuators)
resetting PCM.
1: press reset on scan tool.
2: pull memory fuse to ECU.
3: pull battery neg lug and radio bricks and need to do relearn modes. on many things.

if the problem remains, resetting it does nothing, it come back fast.

What makes a 1998 honda accord transmission go into limp mode and how do I fix or resolve this problem

What do you mean by limp mode? Do you mean "not pulling"? When the strainer inside the casing gets clogged, the fluid can't circulate meaning, the transmission will stop working. Regular fluid changes would prevent this and give long life to the transmission.

Limp home mode

You need to scan for engine trouble codes. Most parts stores will do this for free, and tell you what they mean and make recommendations on what to do. The 'limp mode' kicks in to prevent damage to the vehicle when the computer gets data that something is wrong.. When you shut it off, it's temporarily reset, but then the cars computer is signaling there is still a problem, and it goes back into limp mode. If you have any questions after getting the codes 'read' , post questions and code #;s here for help. Good luck.
