Car will start run for a minute or so and then die

If your D16Y8 engine was running and then stopped after you took off the spark plug wires and distributor cap, there could be a few possible causes for the engine not starting now.

• The timing may have been disturbed when you removed the distributor cap and wires, causing the engine to be out of timing. You should check the timing and make sure it's set correctly.
• The distributor rotor or cap may be damaged or worn, preventing spark from reaching the spark plugs. Replace the rotor and cap if necessary.
• The ignition module or coil may be faulty and not providing spark to the spark plugs. Check the ignition module and coil for any signs of damage or wear.
• The crankshaft position sensor (CKP) may be faulty and not providing the proper signal to the engine control module (ECM), preventing the engine from starting. Check the CKP sensor and wiring for any signs of damage or wear.
• The engine control module (ECM) may be damaged and not providing the proper signals to the ignition and fuel systems, preventing the engine from starting. In this case, the engine control module needs to be replaced.

It's also worth to mention that the tachometer gauge is not related to the engine starting, it's more of an indicator of the engine RPM, if the engine is not starting the tachometer won't work, so don't worry about it.
I recommend that you have a professional mechanic check your vehicle to determine the exact cause of the problem and make any necessary repairs.

by not running the fault codes first , you have missed the real faulty sensor that is causing the problem
nothing of what you replaced is linked to hard starting, like , ambient temp sensor ( used to report the air temp for the setting of the rich mixture need for starting)
baro sensor ( used for reporting the air density used to set the mixture setting
Maf/ Vaf sensors ( again used for mixture settings)
heated oxygen sensors ( used to adjust the gas composition by reporting the results to the ECM

check your timing, check that your ignition pick up coil is good. also check your fuel pressure. and check for any vacuum leaks. double check your coolant temp sensor to the ecm it tells the ecm what temp it is and the ecm adjusts the fuel amount accordingly.

SOUNDS LIKE THE IGNITION MODULE OR COIL PACKS HEATING UP

I WOULD CHECK IGNITION FUSE TO SEE IF POWER GOING TO COILS AND IGNITION MODULE. REPLACE DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND ROTOR.HAVE IGNITION TIMING CHECK.DISTRIBUTOR CAN SLOWLY WORK A LOOSE JUST A LITTLE TO THROW OFF IGNITION TIMING SO PLUGS WONT GET NO SPARK.

Coils ever get replaced? They create all the spark, if not enough spark no combustion so it will act flooded.

time to buy a new van.. umm what about the alternator?

has any one checked to see if the intake is leaking& Chevy does have a problem with the intakes leaking. This a thought hope it helps.

crank shaft position sensor is most likely cause. Do check ignition and fuel pump relays with an ohmmeter to make sure they are not faulty. Check power to ignition module. You can also check crank sensor with the ohmmeter. Check all vacuum hose and also check throttle position sensor.

I HAVE THE SAME JIMMY, HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, I REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH , THAT FIXED IT.
