It means the unit isn't reading your CDs/DVDs. It most likely means the unit is broken and needs to be replaced. There is no fix that I know of for CD/DVD units, only replacing.

Common problem.. I re-engage the cd or cd cartridge and the error message goes away and cd starts to play. try it, it make take 2-3 times but it works for me.

yeah they should be able to unlock the stero /unhooking battery without retreiving codes will lock up stereo . i would tell them get codes or get new stereo

Cd player seems broken. Cd goes in properly but doesn't play followed by "cd error" on console then disc is ejected. Also I hear a whirring sound like something is stuck.
