How do I reset the a1 service overdue message on my Mercedes e220

You cannot need to be done on a machine

It means what it says, unless you can service it, you cant reset it. I'm sure the car is overdue for needed services.

Turn key to ON, not run just ON, so all the dash lights are on, press the O botton twice quickly, like twice in one sec. Service reset will come on with the little wrench symbol, immediately turn key to the off position, press the zero button and hold it in while turning the key to the on position again, hold the button till it beeps, release button and turn key to off position.

While your in the car anyway do the ecu reset and set the learned driver values back to the factory settings,like an instant tune up in two minutes time... (FSS = Flexible Service System)
