Yes you can have them use an ohm meter to test the relay integration switch to make sure that power is going through it. That being said, the fact that they can tap the solenoid on the starter and it works to get the car started makes be think that the starter has gone bad again. It doesn't make sense that you replaced it just 3 days ago and it needs to be replaced again. To me, that means that the starter you got was bad and there should be some sort of warranty for that, even 90 days, and it should be covered under that for a new starter for free. Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!
First of all thank you again for using FixYa! There really is not much difference in a remanufactored starter and a new one as the remanufacotred one is completely broken down and all new parts are put in and if it has a lifetime warranty then it really doesn't matter. As far as whether you have a right to request a new starter, since this one obviously only lasted three days, you definitely do. I would very strongly suggest that they replace it and do it for free with no labor charge because it didn't last any time at all. Also as far as the switch goes, I don't think it is unreasonable to ask them to replace that for free or just cost on the part with no labor if a new starter doesn't fix it. I still think if you get a new starter you will be good to go and won't have to worry about the switch. Again, thanks for using FixYa and don't forget to rate my response! Thanks, Keith.

You are a Godsend.Thank you so much. I asked them was my electrical system ok on my camry or did I have a short in a wire or something ,said no. I paid 300.00 for the starter (not including the labor). When I went to pick up the car on july 10, 2009, I was told it was definitely the starter. I said well I have a new one now so that's reassuring, to know the problemis resolved. The moment I said that, the mechanic said they did not put a New one in but placed a remanufactured one. They siad there was no difference between the remanufctured one vs. a new one. They said it came with a lifetime warranty.I received no warranty paperwork. The car broke down again and would not start July 11,2009, the next day. I had already planned on going back this Monday July 13th, to get a copy of the warranty. My reciept only indicates I paid in full, and that the starter was tested, and charging R and R starterand a starter assembly was placed in my car. I asked was a diagnostic done, they said no, there was no need since they were certain it was a bad starter. Do I have the right since the problem still exists, went in on july 10th,stopped working, exhibted the same problem and symptoms..to request a NEW starter ? Is there a difference between the new and remanufactured part.I also saw on the receipt(maybe a misprint by them)they had my car's vin number and that my car was a 2002 camry LE. Would the wrong year model for the starter cause it to malfunction make a difference in the car. Again thank you. I just turned over nearly 500.00 on jully 10th my kids and I was stranded for over 5 hours in over 90 temp, and now I have to take it back to the same place. I just want peace of mind as a consumer and single parent that I get what I paid for.Would a Integration relay switch cost about the same? Do I now have to replace this starter and also purchase this relay switch(if it's the problem)or is that something most places would correct if they mistakenly replaced the wrong part? God bless you and this site.

I appreciate the fact he read my problem as written and responded to each of the concerns. It gave me the confidence and enough information to know how to better get my car repaired. He was also fantastic in his usage of technical terminology regarding my car.Now I will be familiar because of him/knowledge to explain more specifically what's going on with my car, what I ne checked/repaired and also comprehend better what the mechanic is saying to me(about the services/parts replaced or repaired)Especially being a woman, the manner in which he responded back was appreciat4ed.The raid response on this site was just amazing. This expert was wonderful and I would like to use only Him if possible in the future.
