Followed all steps and tank still won't slide out of Jaguar

The transmission is more of a clear brownish yellow fluid so yes it is possible it is transmission fluid.

Hi, the MAP sensor detects low vacuum in the intake manifold and essentially tells the computer you are stepping on the accelerator. The computer uses this data to increase the fuel/air ratio for acceleration. If your car is hesitation when you step on the pedal, this sensor may not be operating properly. For us to help you better, we would need to know the trouble codes the shop is reading on their scanner and also the symptoms you are experiencing.

Remove the interior trunk liners, the tank is located behind the back particle board, behind where your spare is mounted and battery. Take all of that out. There are two black tank straps that hold the tank in position. Remove bolts to lossen. Take care around where the filler neck attaches to the body (left rear next to trunk). You will have to disconnect serveral harnesses also to "work" it back and forth and ultimately slide it out. As a former master jaguar tech, I will say this; if you are not trained, I suggest you let a professional do this job for you. Gas tanks are no joke.

Note if you remove the fuel tank sending units, be sure to use a brass punch while loosing the rings. If you don't, the tank can explode or at least catch fire.

You need to remove the ''pop fasteners'' on the plastic trim cover on the RHD side (looking into the engine) of the rear of the engine bay where air vent slots are visible. the filter is mounted under there, it slides in. Tricky but not difficult.

Fuel pump is located in the fuel tank . To access under the rear seat .

It sounds like a change over valve is faulty. U have 2 check over valves 1 on each side of rear wheel wells. Also a change over valve that switches 1 tank to other. I recomend replacing all 3 valves for peace of mind,because when 1 goes the others follow. Hope this is helpful!

I see you posted this problem on the 12 Dec O8 so most probably have fixed it by now ?
If not, the fuel pump on this model is in the tank combined with the fuel guage sender.
It is a twist and slide out fixture, but you will have to slacken the tank and slide it out to extract it.

There is a tank separate from the radiator, add the coolant there, follow the hoses from the radiator to the tank.

the fuel gauge on a jaguar x type is regulated by a floating gas gauge that measures resistence; the float drags a contact across a board that has variable resistence. You can retrieve the sending uint from the gas tank by removing the carpet cover and the spare tire assembly from the trunk. Then you carefully tap the retaining ring from the tank and remove the fuel sending uint. You will see the float, the assembly and the resistor board. carefully take the unit apart, and the sliding joint where the float meets the board (which is made of copper) needs to be cleaned, I suggest Brasso, a metal shiner. Rub it well into the copper joints and let it dry to a haze, then buff it to a brilliant shine. Reassemble the sending unit and replace it into the tank. The unit will work perfectly from empty to full for about another 20 years, and the two dollar investment in the Brasso is well worth is; saves you about 60 bucks on a new sender
