I have a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix V6 3.8L, My car sputters and acts like it wants to start but doesn't. Any Suggestions?

1-check fuses, and ATF levels.(per operator guide)
2-scan the PCM/TCM (tranny errors/)
PRNDL
fails in R and D and L? all 3 fail. not told
so drive acts like neutral, emergency brake off.
not drive stuck in 1st gear but false neutral. dead.
yes vast cars this old fail 16 years old and 200k miles
vast,to, google it , no just your A/T vast do. world wide.
3-the shop does test 3, check transmission pump pressure ports. for
spec, pressure PRNDL. (PSI, the service manual cover this)
you already know shifter level links work. so not that.

Will not start? Won't start how ? When you turn the key does the starter engage an spin the engine - but won't start and run? Is that the problem or nothing happens when you turn the key to start? Has power? Has power where?

go to GM dealer with VIN and proof of ownership and order new key.

Used parts such as starters and altinators don't last. It might **** but it sounds like you need to buy a new starter,altinator, and battery. Or just start with buying one at a time.

The first thing I would do is clean your battery connections very good. you may have to remove the plastic covers off the cable ends to get them cleaned good. Also make sure you get the connection bolts tight.

check tps sensor check idle air control valve or iacv for proper func

You need to press and release the lock button and then press the start button.

Have you found out what was going on? My car just started doing it as well.

A cause for that would be an oxygen sensor getting wet, the one on the inlet side of the catalytic converter.

first remove the battery and take it to a auto parts place and have them check it. move on from there. if the battery is good the do a starter draw test. take a meter and hook it to your battery. now have someone try and start the car. if the voltage on the battery drops from 12.8 to below 9 volts then the starter is bad. if the voltage doesnt drop much at all then its prolly the solenoid both of which require starter replacement since most solenoids are on starters. if still nothing then check ignition switch. but before anything else ensure vehicle is in park. if it is in part use a meter to test neutral safety switch.
