A code P0442 most likely means one or more of the following has happened: A loose or improperly affixed gas cap A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand) A small leak/hole in a fuel vapor hose/tube Other small leak in EVAP system Faulty vent o-ring seal Defective vent valve Defective purge valve Defective leak detection pump

A simple google search reveals this is a small leak in the emissions canister system vacuum lines. This can be as simple as a bad gas cap, or a cracked or broken vacuum hose.

PO442 --small leak somewhere in EVAP System

Make sure the gas cap is on tight

Otherwise have the evap system smoke tested
& vacuum hose leaks or solenoids replaced

Troubleshooting code PO442 check engine light on. When I put in gas, gas nozzle keeps cutting off like tank is full

The code PO442 is a small leak somewhere in the evaporative emissions control system, the best way to find that is to take to a shop that does smoke tests for emissions.
As far as the nozzle, try changing the position of it the next time you get gas.

Codes are Po442,PO420,PO131 and PO401.I beleive these all have to do with exhaust emission or leaks

okay po442 isevap leak check gas cap amd right front tower in engine check evap line for broken hose,po131 bad o2 sensor top sensor on rear exhaust manifold,po420 is bad catalyic converter but could be o2 sensor.i would replace o2 first reset eng lingt and go from there, hope this helps good luck.

Failed Emision test

po442 is evap emission control system leak (small) 1 of the lines for emissions is leaking. po455 is-- emission control system leak (large). turn off light with code scanner after it is fixed.
