Yes, very easy...here is the steps to do it:

To Remove:

  1. Disconnect battery negative cable.
  2. Remove air cleaner inlet pipe.
  3. Disconnect alternator electrical connections.
  4. Loosen (but do not remove) pivot bolt and tensioner mounting bolt.
  5. Remove drive belt form alternator pulley.
  6. Remove tensioner mounting bolt and belt tensioner.
  7. Remove pivot bolt, loosen adjusting bracket bolt and rotate bracket up.
  8. Remove alternator.

To Install:

  1. Place alternator on engine.
  2. Install (but do not tighten) pivot bolt.
  3. Rotate bracket down on top of alternator.
  4. Install belt tensioner and install bolt loosely.
  5. Install drive belt on alternator pulley.
  6. Tighten tensioner bolt to 14-19 ft lb (19-26 Nm).
  7. Tighten pivot bolt and bracket bolt to 28-38 ft lb (38-51 Nm).
  8. Connect alternator electrical connections.
  9. Install air cleaner inlet pipe.
  10. Connect battery negative cable.

Good day. I bought Kia Picanto 2006 model (I think) second hand. Battery loose power over night or after a few days of standing. Thought it was starter but it has been fixed since. Please help

it's either the alternator not giving enough charge when engine running or the battery not holding charge, easy to have checked , take to any parts centre they can check the condition of battery and charge rate of alternator

Replacing alternator

And your question is? You have 2 alternatives. Do it yourself or pay a mechanic. An alternator change out is about the easiest thing to do yourself. If you decide to do it your self, get a Chilton?Haynes Manual that covers your make, model and year. This book is really handy for a lot of things. The best thing to do is take the bad alternator out according to book instructions and take it to local/preferred parts store. That way they can test it and give you the correct replacement. And it avoids the core charge. Take new alternator home and put it is reverse of removal.

Are the interference heads or non interference heads on a 2006 KIA Spectra EX

  • Kia Spectrs and Sortage are non interference. All other Kia engines are interference. So your vehicle is non-interference.

  • Hope this helps.

How hard is it to remove the oil pan on a 1999 Chevrolet Express

This is not a do it yourself job. Even with the right tools this job isnt easy. You may have to pull the exhaust and stering components. Also the motor mounts need to be unbolted so you can raise motor up to get enough room to clear the oil pick up tube.

Remove alternator on kia rio 2002

its not easy i wont lie to u i have a 2002 kia rio and ive removed the alternator 6 times the real trick is to take ur front passenger tire off and jack the car up high enough to have some wiggle room underneath. when u disconnect everything, youll want to face the alternator pretty much upside down and u just have to wiggle it out past your drive shaft and control arm

I am trying to replace the alternator/waterpump belt on a 1997 mazda protege, but there is another belt right in front of it. How do I remove the first belt and the alternator/waterpump belt? And what...

It isn't that hard of a fix, I recently had to change the same belt on mine. Right underneath the AC is a tension bolt, just loosen it up enough and the AC unit should roll down to loosen the first belt. You need to do the same process for the other belt. That tension bolt is located underneath the alternator. Just to save yourself the trouble, I would go ahead and replace both belts. A set only cost me $30 at autozone.

How do I change the alternator belt in my 1999 Excel (list did not have the year)?

hi mate, your problem is fairly easy to fix-----remove the plastic under tray on the drivers side, from underneath, undo the main alternator bolt, just enough to move the alternator, now from the top undo the belt tension adjustment locking bolt, then back off the tension adjuster itself until the alternator belt is loose and can slip off the pulleys-----fitting your new belt is the reverse to this. all the best.

Need to replace alternator in 2002 kia Rio 5

I just changed my brothers on a 2001 kia rio. You have to go from the bottom. There is a tensioning adjustment on the top you have to undo, as well as a bolt on bottom. It is hard to get it out because there is not a lot of room, i remember it hitting either a p/s line or the rack, and being frustrated. I used a floor jack and block of wood under the engine and jacked it up to reposition it. It gave me enough room to get it out. Remove the bottom bolt and disconnect the wiring from it and it should drop out with some effort. Getting it back in was harder. Once you get it back into position connect the wiring before you bolt it up all the way, put the lower bolt in, put the belt on, then back to the adjustment on top. Make sure everything is tight and you should be done.
