X type converted to LPG. It runs OK on LPG but not petrol

I had my x type converted to LPG. It runs OK on gas but on petrol it splutters and does not run properly. I have been told the common rail fuel pressure is low. If I stop the engine and restart it it sort of works providing I do not press hard on the accellerator. Any suggestions? As it runs OK on gas it does seem to be a fuel injection problem????

Areas to check are the fuel pressures, fuel hoses, fuel crossover solenoid
It indicates that the ECM is receiving the correct information from the sensors to adjust for LPG but when crossed over to petrol signals from sensors are not as clear as they should be
This can be from a power drain to components caused by a faulty solenoid or relay that is reducing the voltage available to the sensors ( normally in the air intake system or the heated oxygen sensor in the exhaust manifold )
check all harness connections and wiring
if you are checking it all your self then a workshop manual that has all of the voltages for each sensor would provide help

SOURCE: 1984 Jaguar xj6 runs rough on cold start and fuel

Hello Drankin ;
The causes of this particular problem can be that of many . Is this car a daily driver or a garage queen ? I would attack this problem by ruling out the items with the lowest cost first . Please note that the info below are some of the steps I would take at tackling this problem .

a) Check that your oil filler cap is on tight and that the seal is good .
b) Check the electrical connections to be certain nothing is loose .or disconnected .
c)If the car has been sitting, run it for a while and try to empty the tank of that old gas . I would refiill it with new gas and fuel injector cleaner .
d) I would change the fuel fiter with a new one .You must do this with the engine depressurized and off with both filler caps open .
e) You could also check for air leaks at the intake manifold .
f) How is your exhaust ? Is it leaking ?Is it blocked at the ends ?
g) Check the the Butterflies on the Air-Flow-meter . Make sure that they open and close easily . There are spray on cleanes for this . Do not hone the openings .
h)Relace the charcoal cannister .
i) I would do a compressionon all 6 cylinders
j)Check the fuel pump for proper pressure or replace it .
k) At the emission's station check to see what is the idle mixure and you may need to have the idle mixure adjusted on the airlow meter .
L) Check/ Rule - Out the Auxillary air valve .
m) Check/ Rule - Out the Fuel Injectors .
n) Check/ Rule -Out the Coolant temperature Sensor
o) Check/ Rule - Out the Air Temperature Sensor
p) Check/ Rule - Out the Thermotime Switch

I hope that this has been helpful to you .

1997 mitsubishi starwagon been converted to lpg wont switch back to petrol

If your 1997 Mitsubishi Starwagon has been converted to run on LPG (liquid petroleum gas) and is having trouble switching back to petrol, there could be a few different issues at play. Here are a few things you could try:
  1. Check the LPG/petrol switch: Make sure that the switch is in the correct position for the fuel you want to use.
  2. Check the fuel lines: Make sure that the fuel lines for the petrol and LPG systems are not blocked or damaged.
  3. Check the fuel pump: The fuel pump may not be working properly, preventing the vehicle from switching to petrol.
  4. Check the fuel tank: Make sure that the petrol tank is not empty and that there are no blockages in the fuel lines leading to the engine.
If none of these solutions resolve the issue, it may be necessary to have the vehicle diagnosed by a mechanic. They will be able to identify the cause of the problem and recommend the necessary repairs.

Holden statesdman 1994 VR It is on PETROL AND GAS will start on petrol but keeps stalling when switched over to gas is good

I assume this is dual fuel.... LPG and gasoline??????? Is cooling system full? If so, probably plugged filter on LPG convertor. If you are not knowledgeable with LPG, get someone who is. LPG is highly explosive.

Hi the other day i started the toyota up after finishing work it backfired now it wont run on lpg. It runs on petrol but wont on LPG any ideas would be great.

the fact that it runs on fuel means that the electronics of the vehicle are all operational. The problem is the fuel selection process for he LPG. The converter for the lpg is prone to corrosion and failures internally so I would suggest that you have an accredited Auito gas specialist look at the gas system

Car wont run on petrol but ok on LPG

Hi dave hill, not really sure on your problem but I have a VN commodore that I purchased that had the fuel pump crook and did the same thing of not starting on petrol. Owner said to hold in lpg button when starting . I got the fuel pump replaced. Mechanic said it was caused by not running petrol through enough and running always on LPG.

My jaguar (lpg gas) says limited performance

hi your issue is that your car which starts with petrol then switchies over to lpg for which youll already know ,but the problem lies within the cylindar heads as it can only be 1 of 3 things =1, your valve seals are worn excessively due to the lpg as that runs at a higher heat density which stretches the valves which in turn causes then to wear and that reduces the power ie lack off,as it puts the ecu into limp mode (safe to protect your engine) as its a common fault on ALL lpg conversions.as that is also the knock on effect with your master servo (brakes).as i fix approx 3/4 a month.
hope this help's to clarify what is wrong ok

Running on lpg then stop turn engine off then start engine and drive 20 metres and engine stalls! switch over to petrol and runs ok switch back to lpg and stalls

check that your cooling system if full of coolant. the coolant that keeps the engine cool actually keeps the gas converter from freezing. alternatively is it hard to start of a morning when cold, if so could be butane wax build up from the gas, in the convertor.
