Hey I'm having the same problem with my BMW 320d 2005 car. Fuses, switches ,bulbs are all fine abd reversing lights still not working . Please help me out
this happens on older motors when the valve seals go bad .go to local auto parts store and get some oil additice that stops smoke this should solve youre problem
it may of low grade oil used as engine oil,or some oil on top of the engine can also produce this smoke.Change corect grade engine oil as advised by the car company but remove all the previous oil
That sounds like engine flooding, getting too much gas. Have electric choke checked for one but black smoke with drop in power must be too much gas at times.
The possibility would be extremely remote. If the engine will turn over when you try to start it, then it is likely rebuilable but it would be cheaper to find a used one in a scrap yard.Rebuilding would be in the $2500 to $3000 range but likely cheaper than a new block from BMW.Hope this helps.
You obviously have a leak somewhere. Check the radiator hoses and heater lines for seepage. It is passable you may have a head gasket problem. If you pull the plugs and see one white or a lot lighter than the rest it could be water ingestion in that cylinder. But check all the hoses first.
