You need to use a bypass relay on this car. the car colours are - L/Ind = Black/White, R/Ind = Black/Green, Fog = Grey/Green, Brake = Black/Red, Left tail = Grey/Black, Right tail = Grey/Red
I assume that the towbar didn't come with a proper wiring kit as, unfortunately there is not a specific connector for the towbar wiring on the x-type, the proper Vehicle Specific Kit plugs into the rear light. There is a power connector with three pins on the left and a grey reverse sensor cut out connector also on the left. but you will either need to use a Vehicle Specific Wiring kit (about £175) or use a bypass relay system.
dont think you can ,it needs special relay boxes that should come with the towbar ,get confirmation from the dealer but iam sure you will need special relays or you will burn the wiring or something out
You can wire directly to the rear light wiring behind the trim carpets on both side, however you must use a bypass relay system on the indicator circuits as the flasher unit overloads and switches off if more that 1 extra lamps are connected. Best use a test lamp to check which wire does what.
