You have to check for Voltage at the plug when u depress the Horn button. Quite possibly the Horn might be defective. If there is no Voltage at the Plug, check the Horn Relay. If you change the Horn Relay and still does not work, then its either the Horn Button is defective or the Airbag Spool Reel is broken internally.
ck the fuses and the relay for the horn you need to have someone press the horn and ck for power to the horn if no power ck relay to see if you are getting a signal from the horn pad
remove grill ck horns with jumper wires ck plug for power, if horns work .if horns dont work with jumpers replace . if no power ck fuse if good relay for signal and power if no signal when horn pushed either horn switch in airbag ,or cable reel witch need cked with special srs tools .
Check the horn relay to see if it works. Most cars use the same relays for multiple other functions. Check the part number on the horn relay and find another relay that is working that has the same part number. Swap out the horn relay with the known good relay. If that doesn't work, check all the wiring in association with the horn. If all the wiring is sound, then it is probably the horn itself, but that is very rarely the case.
Check for power at the horn with a volt meter. If you don't have one a 12v light will work too. If there is power there replace the horn, if not you will have to check the wiring back to see where the problem is. Hope that helps Brian
The clicking is the coil side of the horn relay....That pulls in the contact which carries the heavier currant needed for the horn operation.
To work on this fault you'll need an electrical test meter or light....
Locate the actual relay by having someone press the horn and NOT hold it down
The clicking will lead you to its position.
Unhook it from its bracket and with the meter check that the switching side of the relay is closing when the horn is pressed.
If not replace the relay.
If power is going across the switching side go to the connection on the horn at the front of the vehicle and check the power output there
If you have power there, check to make sure the earth contact to the body is intact.
The earth contact is usually through the horn button via a contactor on the steering wheel assembly.
I would think that that is fine as the relay is operating.
if all power is coming from the relay and the horn is grounded correctly, replace the actual horn.
if its clicking the relay is working check power from relay to horn but your horn is probably full of stuff etc give your horn a tap it will probably work
only one horn sounds when you hit the button. the other horn is for the alarm and door locks etc. im not sure which is which, but have someone push the horn button while checking for power and ground at the harness connector. if power and ground are there, replace the horn. for your own sanity, buy an original equipment horn that just plugs right in, a universal aftermarket requires you to frankenstein your wiring. good luck!
Your vechicle only has one horn on it if it is working but has poor sound You need to ck for a poor ground or poor voltage at the horn The horn is located behind the left headlamp disconnect the horn and ck the power wire for 12 volts (green wire) then ck the black wire for a good ground 0 ohms fron the connector to battery Neg post. If these readings are correct then the horn needs to be replaced
I had the same problem. When i pushed on the horn there was a clicking sound but no horn.Replaced it for about $15 canadian and installed it myself. It Is located on the right on the passenger side under the car.
